Mark Twain said: “there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.”  We begin with one of the most corrupt, despicable people ever to work in our federal justice system:

Andrew Weissmann

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Weissmann said Friday on MSNBC’s ‘Deadline’ that the United States is the ‘only so-called first world country’ where mass shootings happen.

Weissmann said, ‘So, I’m so reminded by President Obama being just infuriated by having to do these speeches over and over again, because we are the only so-called first world country where this happens. Every other country knows that there are steps to take that will decrease the risk of this happening.’

First, Weissmann is a liar, and a particularly stupid liar at that, which considering his role in actually running the corrupt, expensive and failed Mueller investigation against Donald Trump, is hardly surprising.  Take this link to a Federalist archive to learn Weissmann’s long history of corruption on behalf of the d/S//C Party.  His assertion America is the only advanced country where mass shootings happen isn’t remotely true, nor is America uniquely dangerous.  Merely google “worldwide mass shootings.”

Also, take this link to a classic Bill Whittle video, Number One With A Bullet, that proves conclusively Weissmann is—it’s his default condition–lying.  Commonly, one can massage statistics to “prove” that assertion only by a creative formulation of what constitutes a “mass shooting.”  Second, one might wish to ask Israel, an unquestionably advanced country, about Weissman’s fallacious contention.

World Population Review.com provides this careful explanation:

One of the main causes for the vast range of stances on mass shootings is that reliable data on mass shootings can be notoriously difficult to obtain—what’s more, the data that does exist is often incompatible with data from other sources. No official, universally accepted definition for a mass shooting exists. Rather, each stat-tracking organization has its own qualifying criteria. For example, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) defines a mass shooting as a single attack that happens in a public place and in which three or more people are killed with a firearm. However, most other stat trackers require at least four fatalities. As a result of these mismatched definitions, database-to-database differences are both common and confounding.

Similarly, some databases include events in which at least four people were wounded, but not necessarily killed. Others do not. Some databases include occurrences in which the shooter killed only family members (but still in a public place, such as a restaurant). Others do not. Some databases include organized terrorist attacks, armed robberies gone wrong, and gang-related shootings. Other databases discard some or all of these incidents. In fact, in a 2019 study that compared four different databases, the number of mass shooting events recorded in the U.S. for the year 2017 ranged from a low of 11 to a high of 346. Clearly, a significant error margin exists, particularly when creating country-to-country comparisons.

Dr. John R. Lott’s Crime Prevention Research Center has proved:

An authoritative fact check of a media-hyped report that 31 percent of the world’s mass shootings have occurred in the United States has found that just 1.43 of the killings happened in America.

And if that’s not sufficiently authoritative, even NPR—NPR?!—discovered the US Department of Education’s mass school shooting statistics are not only damned lies, but statistics:

As it turns out, our Education Department and our schools can’t count.

NPR decided to call each one of the schools that the Department of Education had on file as experiencing a school-related shooting. They called for months. Repeatedly. Of the nearly 240 shooting related incidents reported to the federal government, NPR was able to confirm just eleven.

Most of the ‘shootings’ just didn’t happen. In 161 cases, NPR reports, representatives from schools or school districts said nothing happened or something had happened but it didn’t actually meet the government’s definition for a shooting. This standard isn’t super technical either. Any given educational professional with a college degree should be able to grasp the government definition, which is any discharge of a weapon at a school-sponsored event.

The rest weren’t much better, as NPR found most such “mass shootings” were someone perhaps firing a gun on or near school property on a weekend, a gang-involved shooting on a playground after school hours, or other such bogus “mass shootings.”  As it turns out, there are a great many people—mostly democrats, Socialists and Communists–the Mummified Meat Puppet Administration and its supporters—who invent their own reality, and will tell any lie to force the rest of us to live in it.

But upon occasion, something happens that forces even those prone to buy into manufactured reality to question their previous assumptions.  A case in point is the pre-civilizational slaughter of some 1400 Israelis on October 7, 2023.  Many American Jews, suddenly smacked in the face with real reality, are—gasp!—suddenly watching Fox News:

Ross Abramson, a software engineer and recent New York University graduate, had a fairly conventional news diet until recently. He regularly checked his phone for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. And as a Jew with an interest in Israel, he would browse a handful of outlets like The Times of Israel.

Then the brutal Hamas-led attack on Israel happened on Oct. 7, and Mr. Abramson found himself turning to an outlet he said he didn’t rely on much before: Fox News.

‘Did I watch it religiously before? No,’ he said, adding that he found Fox’s reporting and commentary on Israel’s military campaign in Gaza ‘less antagonistic for sure’ than that of other news organizations. ‘You don’t feel as attacked,’ Mr. Abramson said.

Abrahamson isn’t alone:

One liberal Fox host, Jessica Tarlov, said in a recent appearance on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ that her pro-Israel perspective put her out of step with younger Democrats but not with many of her fellow older millennials, some of whom recently started watching Fox News.

‘My Jewish liberal friends will text me and they’ll say, ‘Oh, this is where you go in the afternoon?’ because they never watched Fox before,’ she said.

American Jews—and Israeli Jews—are also realizing the d/S/C Party really doesn’t like them or want to protect them, so they’re buying their first guns:

S&W M&P22 Compact, right side

The United States is unique among the family of nations for many reasons, but the Second Amendment is certainly one of the biggest ones. In Georgia, Jewish people are increasingly becoming patrons of gun stores, for reasons that may be obvious.

‘Sam Landesman never thought he’d buy a gun.

‘That’s the last thing I’d want to own is a firearm,’ Landesman said.

But Landesman, like others he knows, fears antisemitism abroad and at home in Georgia.

‘I feel like I need to be ready to protect myself and protect my family,’ Landesman explained to FOX 5.

Landsman too isn’t alone:

Tood Whiddon, assistant manager with Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna [Georgia], said he’s witnessing the trend firsthand.

‘We are seeing Jewish customers buying their first guns,’ Whiddon said. ‘Overall, we’re seeing about a 30-percent increase in business.’

State Rep. Esther Panitch, (D) 51, says antisemitism has been rising in recent years on the right and the left and has spiked since the Hamas terror attack a few weeks ago.

‘It’s a dark and dangerous time for Jews right now,’ Panitch, who is the only Jewish American lawmaker in the Georgia legislature, said.

‘I’ve heard from people in the community who are afraid who have talked about other types of self-defense, including firearms,’ Panitch said. ‘I have upgraded my weapons training as a result of what’s going on.’

One might argue these Normal Americans are succumbing to unreasonable fear.  Why, the evil American “gun culture” and the doubly evil gun industry are convincing them to be paranoid, when everyone knows guns always kill their owners!

Then again, if one is grounded in actual reality, they see a dramatic increase in virulent antisemitism around the world, and even in America, where blood libel and calls for the extinction of Israel and every Jew in the world resound on America’s campuses. in America’s blue cities and states and in the halls of Congress.  This contemptible, anti-American, anti-civilization evil is present even in red cities and states, but is far less common, and far more likely to be aggressively countered by decent, Normal Americans.  It would seem the “increase” in such vicious cruelty is actually more latent antisemitism suddenly becoming fashionable, as the cowardly, weak-minded adherents of Woke/DEI subculture think to violently assert what they see as rising power.

In any case, because of my experience as a police officer, a teacher, and a student of history, and because I am a Christian, I have no doubt evil exists.  I know any one of us can be confronted by it at any time and any place.  Every year I update my Why I Carry A Concealed Handgun article.  Here’s an excerpt:

I CARRY A HANDGUN BECAUSE:

* Evil exists and may confront anyone at any time and any place.

*God exists and expects me to protect myself, those I love, and those that can’t protect themselves.

*When God leads me into perilous situations, as He sometimes has, He expects me to be prepared, and so I am.

*To fail to protect God’s greatest gift–-the gift of life–-is inexcusable.

*Self-defense is a God-given, natural, unalienable right.

Depending on where one lives, it may be highly likely they’ll come into direct contact with evil, even have to fight for their life.  That’s not paranoia; it’s recognition of reality.  It’s a desire to live.   It’s the recognition the lives of decent, normal people are of far greater value to the survival of civilization, here and in Israel, than those of vicious criminals and demonic terrorists.  Take the link and read the whole thing.

Even Israel, which has no Second Amendment, has begun to understand the necessity of an armed populace.  The state, even though the Biden Administration is trying to stop them, is distributing military rifles to Israelis, and Israelis are also buying their own guns as the state begins allowing them greater self-defense freedom.  Sadly, it took them the second greatest single day loss of Jewish lives since the Holocaust to wake up to that reality:

In a gun shop in the West Bank, a salesman laid a collection of unloaded handguns on the counter and invited a group of men gathered around him to pick them up and see how it felt to squeeze the trigger. His advice was soundtracked by a staccato of automatic rifle fire from the adjacent shooting range, and the occasional rhythmic sound of shots from a handgun.

‘Everyone comes in here wanting a Glock,’ he told the group, ‘but really you just need something that feels comfortable when you hold it in your hands.’

The group of men, some from Israel’s religious Jewish communities, others dressed in T-shirts and smaller kippas, looked at the salesman as he talked them through choosing a handgun.

‘I applied for my licence a month ago, and if the attack hadn’t happened, I’d have postponed this training – I wasn’t in a rush. Instead I decided to do it immediately,’ said 29-year-old Yonatan Elbaz, a resident of the nearby Beitar Illit settlement. Elbaz chose an Israeli-made handgun because he ‘wanted to buy a gun from Eretz Yisrael’, he said, using a biblical name for Israeli people.

Israeli companies make fine firearms indeed. A number of stories are coming out of Israel that surely influence this encouraging trend.  In many of the villages that were attacked by Hamas on October 7, the only people who survived unharmed were those few Israelis who, in most cases armed only with handguns, killed and drove off their better armed attackers bent on slaughter.

Take this link to find a video of one such happy story, as well as two other useful videos on the current status quo in Israel.

Final Thoughts:  In Israel, and America, attackers may be set to flight by determined resistance, particularly resistance backed up by guns.  As regular readers know, Americans use guns, usually without firing a shot, to thwart criminal assault 2 million+ times every year.  Even the Clinton Administration, among the most anti-liberty/gun in history, conducted research, secure in the knowledge they’d find Americans virtually never used guns for self-defense.  Instead, they discovered we use them as many as 1.5 million times per year.  They tried to quietly bury the study, but even the Clintons had a few honest people working for them and it leaked.

As regular readers also know, the individual basis of the Second Amendment is the God-given right to self-defense.  Without it, what other right matters?  The collective basis?  Deterring and destroying tyranny (d/S/Cs absolutely hate that reality).  The Founders had no doubt about the fallen nature of man, about the existence of evil.  Our Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, is a direct reflection of their grasp of objective reality.

Israelis, and Jews elsewhere, are awakening to the reality our Founders knew: no one is responsible, practically or legally, for protecting our lives and the lives of those we love, but us, which is why we obtain necessary weapons and training.  That we recognize this reality, and act on it, horrifies and disgusts the worldwide self-imagined elite, which is why they are forever trying to disarm us.  Jews have been reminded such people do not love them, nor do they intend to protect them, quite the opposite.

Leftist philosophy and political practice is a rejection of objective reality and of God and His design of and intentions for His people.  God’s chosen people—the Jews–as a direct result of all-too-common savagery are once again embracing reality.  They’re going to be harder to kill from now on.

We, if we value and want to defend human life and western civilization, should appreciate and welcome that.
