I’ve been paying attention for some time, so I remember Barack Obama’s periodic visits to military installations. It was common for his lackeys to hand out cheap digital cameras to willing troops so the media could have footage of adoring troops memorializing, for all time their brushes with greatness.
And who can forget the many, many photos of Mr. Obama, with stone-faced troops arrayed in ascending rows behind him (no, they weren’t there because they wanted to be; troops follow orders), as he regaled them with lofty, meaningless rhetoric. Ah, the common touch!
Fast-forward to Christmas, 2018, and a media feeding frenzy. Why, that bad orange man wasn’t going to see the troops! Bad, bad! The media piled on, but even as they were accusing President Trump of ignoring the troops, he was already in the air on his way to surprise the troops.
Even celebrities famous for being famous were, for the first time, concerned for the welfare of the troops, even though they didn’t realize that by proclaiming Mr. Trump the ultimate evil, they were pretending to be upset he wasn’t inflicting that evil on our troops:
When the media discovered Mr. Trump had beaten them again, they were outraged. How dare he not tell them in advance what he was going to do! How dare he sign MAGA hats and other stuff the troops brought to him! Why, that’s a violation of some military regulation or other (there is no such regulation), and if it wasn’t it’s bad because Trump, Trump, Trump! It’s well known the media are the foremost authorities on the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and on military deportment in general.
Bad orange man must have been shamed by their righteous concern for the troops, so he rushed to Air Force One and flew to the Middle East! Media talking heads aren’t sufficiently introspective to realize they were arguing that Trump was Hitler, and they cared so much about our troops they wanted to inflict Hitler on them. They also are apparently unaware that any trip by the president, particularly to a war zone, is planned months, even years, in advance due to security concerns, and all the advance work, diplomatic and otherwise, necessary. A bit of secrecy about the President’s whereabouts is also a good thing, even though I’m sure the press, if given a head’s up, would never, ever leak such a thing.
Let us, gentle readers, do a comparison of the past and present, of the relationship of the holy progressive messiah, and of the bad orange man, to our troops. Notice the adoration, the veneration, the smiles and joy on their faces as they are regaled by Mr. Obama:
Contrast that with the hatred and revulsion visible on the faces of our troops in this photo:
Can’t you just feel the loathing?
Look at the revulsion!
And if that wasn’t enough, the First Lady committed many fashion violations; I mean, just look at her! And that poor troop. One can only imagine his degradation at being photographed with and touched by one of the most intelligent and beautiful women in the world. The horror.
And here she is again. Look at the way she’s abusing those poor troops!
And I’ll have to end with this photo, because I can’t take it anymore. Look at her shooting racist rays at this poor minority woman, and if that wasn’t bad enough, she wore boots–boots!!!–in a war zone. Is there no perversity to which this woman will not stoop?
Oh, and lest anyone feel compelled to produce photos of Mr. Obama with a smiling troop or two, thanks, but I know they exist. There are far more, however, of Mr. Obama using our troops as unsmiling props. I don’t recall the press ever criticizing Mr. Obama over that.
Our troops have always been among our best and brightest, and certainly our bravest, though one would not know that it one pays Democrats–which includes the Media–any attention. Remember Democrat and noted traitor John Kerry, who, in 2006, said:
Education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.
Our troops know the difference between a real Commander-In-Chief and a cynical poser. They know the difference between a Commander In Chief that imposes politically correct rules of engagement that favor the enemy and get Americans killed and a CIC who fully funds them and lets them destroy America’s enemies. They appreciate fighters, not talkers, Americans, not socialists.
Let’s hear from Mr. Trump:
My duty, and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber, is to defend Americans — to protect their safety, their families, their communities, and their right to the American Dream. Because Americans are dreamers too.’ — Donald Trump
See? That’s why Donald Trump and anyone that supports him must be destroyed!. That kind of thinking is dangerous, and so is this:
Let’s let The Hill sum it up:
It may be unfair for a few bad apples in the examples above to spoil the perception of the whole bunch, but every poll and study shows the Fourth Estate’s credibility is in serious trouble.
How much trouble? An Axios/Survey Monkey poll released in July showed that 92 percent of Republicans say they believed “traditional news outlets knowingly report false or misleading stories at least sometimes.” Among those identifying as independents, the number is 79 percent. Even a majority of Democrats, 53 percent, say the same thing.
On cue, the president goes to Iraq to visit the troops after we were told that wasn’t going to happen. His motive is questioned. The troops bring MAGA hats to sign and are shamed for doing it. Amazing how all of these stories were skewed negatively, isn’t it?
Another day, another event chock-full of examples why many in this country will have difficulty ever trusting the media.
Yes, gentle readers, it’s a mystery why people don’t trust the media.
