I’m taking a break from education topics this week due to two extraordinary examples of lying: Biden’s claim Vladimir Putin is responsible for high gas prices—and by implication, inflation—and after The New York Times’ admission the New York Post’s story on Hunter Biden’s laptop was real/true/accurate, all the usual suspects refuse to admit they lied about it.
As regular readers know, I’ve long pointed out D/S/Cs political beliefs are an alternate form of religion. They are articles of faith, dogma different from Christianity in that apostasy from D/S/C dogma requires the punishment of disbelievers, which manifests itself in destroying their ability to make a living, assault, social shunning, lawfare, imprisonment, even death. While Christianity not only tolerates, but welcomes questioning, eliciting responses of gentle argument and reason, which those questioning are free to accept or reject, questioning of D/S/C dogma provokes immediate rage, false accusations and often, violence.
Ultimately, one accepts the tenets of Christianity on faith, and there is no punishment, in one’s mortal existence, for rejecting Christ. D/S/C dogma, however, demands unthinking adherence, and likewise demands punishment without thought for eternal life, which its adherents commonly reject.
This is so because D/S/C thought/political orthodoxy, cannot possibly be wrong. It is non-falsifiable—because it is perfect, it cannot possibly fail or be proved wrong—and is so because it is formulated, and frequently altered as political circumstances—the eternal drive for power—change by the intellectual and moral self-imagined elite, whose intellectual and moral perfection is made manifest to all by the unimpeachable success and brilliance of their policies.
It’s a circular argument. D/S/C policies are non-falsifiable because they are made by D/S/Cs and are therefore perfect. The proof of their perfection is their inevitable, non-falsifiable success, which proves the D/S/Cs that made the policies are perfect.
Sadly, all humans sin. All fail. All are subject to the same temptations and intellectual and moral failings. Therefore, when D/S/C policies inevitable fail, or when their lies are exposed, it cannot possibly be because those polices were wrong, or because they lied. They are non-falsifiable, so when that happens, as it always does because they also reject objective reality and substitute their own and demand everyone else live in their unreal reality, they must deflect, obfuscate and blame others, such as:
*Because their policies can’t fail, they simply ignore every failure, refusing to comment.
*Their policies aren’t actually failing; Normal Americans are just too stupid and ungrateful to recognize their perfection.
*Normals are too stupid to recognize what is good for them, which leads them to act against their own interests.
*D/S/Cs magnanimously allow Normals to continue to exist and foolishly oppose their policies.
*Not enough time has passed to allow the miracles of their policies to be fully manifest.
*Not nearly enough money has been spent to allow the miracles of their policies to be fully manifest.
*The policies haven’t been enforced good and hard enough. Some believe if they could only force everyone to wear masks and stay indoors forever, Covid could be eradicated. Some just want to do it because they think they can and they live to exercise power over lesser beings.
*Their policies aren’t wrong, but their failure is some specific person’s fault, like Trump or Putin.
*Ignore reality and call disbelievers racist, sexist, transphobes, etc..
*Who you gonna believe, your own lyin’ eyes and dwindling bank accounts, or our bullshit? This is commonly known as “gaslighting.”
One can add the contemporary CRT dodge–“we absolutely aren’t teaching CRT in schools, but any attempt to remove it is racist because CRT is absolutely necessary!”—but that’s just a necessary for the moment hybrid of the more usual excuses.
Let’s examine the two examples I mentioned in the first paragraph. Joe Biden, his spokesliar Jen Psaki, and much of the D/S/C media propaganda arm of the D/S/C Party are claiming high gas prices, and inflation in general, are the fault of Vladimir Putin. This entirely accurate graph illustrates the incredible stupidity of this claim:
A visit to this New York Post article by Deroy Murdock also illustrates the actual, not narrative, truth of matter. The best evidence Biden is lying is Normal American’s day to day experience. Everything is more expensive, and particularly gas, and all in a single year. Biden promised to destroy the fossil fuel industry while campaigning—on the few occasions he emerged from his Delaware basement—and he began making good on that promise on his first day in office. Americans know inflation is far worse than Government and their media propaganda arm are admitting, because they’re paying for it every day.
And how are we to compensate for this rampant inflation? Psaki suggested we lower our expectations. Pete Buttegieg, whose competency begins and ends with being conspicuously gay, suggested Americans who can’t afford gas should buy electric cars, which won’t meet their needs, and they couldn’t afford in their wildest dreams. Kamala Harris thinks electric semi trucks and busses will fix everything. All of this is necessary because climate change. Despite every decade by decade extinction date passing with no extinction, true believers are not deterred, because their beliefs cannot possibly be wrong, thus global cooling became global warming, became climate change, which the treasonous, arrogant and stupid John Kerry certifies—he just won’t shut up–a far greater danger than global nuclear war, though doomsday keeps being rescheduled in 10 year increments.
D/S/C reality holds solar and wind power will meet all energy needs. In their reality, electricity materializes out of thin air in unlimited quantities. Such is their intellectual and moral force, the laws of physics, of objective reality, are what they say they are and transmogrify at their command dependent on their transitory political needs. Batteries of unlimited storage capacity and power exist, or will any minute, and who you gonna believe?
You are aware I am sure, gentle readers, of The New York Time’s grudging admission everything The New York Post said about Hunter Biden’s laptop is true. Why, after studiously denying it since late 2020 would they admit this now? Obviously, they, and their masters, consider it politically advantageous, a necessary admission to preserve their power, which explains why they haven’t stuck to the story, using their usual tactics. It appears, however, not every D/S/C got the memo, as Scott Johnson at Powerline reports:
The Post must have been working on just such a package as I wrote yesterday morning. Today the Post follows up today as I suggested with Kyle Smith taking up the duties as columnist. The cover is below. The accompanying editorial is “Spies who lie: 51 ‘intelligence’ experts refuse to apologize for discrediting true Hunter Biden story.” The accompanying column is Kyle Smith’s “How Dem officials, the media and Big Tech worked in concert to bury the Hunter Biden story.”
The Post tried to contact the 51 “experts” to see if they’d admit their deception. Most didn’t respond at all or refused to comment. I’ll include only those who sort of, mostly, did:
Jim Clapper, former director of national intelligence, now CNN pundit: ‘Yes, I stand by the statement made AT THE TIME, and would call attention to its 5th paragraph. I think sounding such a cautionary note AT THE TIME was appropriate.’
Russ Travers, former National Counterterrorism Center acting director: ‘The letter explicitly stated that we didn’t know if the emails were genuine, but that we were concerned about Russian disinformation efforts. I spent 25 years as a Soviet/Russian analyst. Given the context of what the Russians were doing at the time (and continue to do — Ukraine being just the latest example), I considered the cautionary warning to be prudent.’
Andy Liepman, former National Counterterrorism Center deputy director: ‘As far as I know I do [stand by the statement] but I’m kind of busy right now.’
“As far as I know?!”
David Priess, former CIA analyst and manager: ‘Thank you for reaching out. I have no further comment at this time.’
Don Hepburn, former national security executive, now president of Boanerges Solutions LLC: ‘My position has not changed any. I believe the Russians made a huge effort to alter the course of the election . . . The Russians are masters of blending truth and fiction and making something feel incredibly real when it’s not. Nothing I have seen really changes my opinion. I can’t tell you what part is real and what part is fake, but the thesis still stands for me, that it was a media influence hit job.’
Jonna Hiestand Mendez, former CIA technical operations officer, now on board of the International Spy Museum: ‘I don’t have any comment. I would need a little more information.’
Like what? The NYT admitting they lied?
Emile Nakhleh, former director of CIA’s Political Islam Strategic Analysis Program, now at University of New Mexico: ‘I have not seen any information since then that would alter the decision behind signing the letter. That’s all I can go into. The whole issue was highly politicized and I don’t want to deal with that. I still stand by that letter.’
This was my favorite:
Greg Treverton, former National Intelligence Council chair, now senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies: “I’ll pass. I haven’t followed the case recently.”
I’m sure Mr. Treverton is utterly uninformed about this issue, just as he was when he commented on it back in 2020. In fact, not a single one of the “intelligence experts” had any actual, first hand knowledge about the laptop when they branded it “Russian disinformation,” which lack of integrity and honesty would tend to explain our recent intelligence failures.
One might cynically assert D/S/Cs “beliefs” are all a matter of whatever will allow them to seize, increase and keep power. One might also cynically assert they don’t give a damn about Normal Americans—actually any Americans—because they don’t consider themselves Americans, but superior beings who rule and maintain the world because of their superiority, a superiority lesser beings not only cannot recognize and properly appreciate, but will criticize and combat out of jealousy and their own innate inferiority. They know damned well they’re lying and their policies are nonsense, but they’re absolutely determined to keep their power, wealth and lifestyles, so none of that matters.
One might cynically ask if green energy in all its manifestations is so obviously wonderful and beneficial, why does government need to mandate and subsidize it? Wouldn’t it naturally rise to the top in the free market? Wouldn’t Americans, seeing its miraculous benefits and cost savings willingly embrace it? And if the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop were Russian disinformation, wouldn’t Joe and Hunter Biden deny the laptop and its contents were his? Wouldn’t those contents be readily proved to be fake?
Such matters reflect objective reality and reality is not subject to D/S/C narratives/messaging. Objective reality is falsifiable or it is not objective reality. It’s so much easier to live in a non-falsifiable world, where reality bends to the will of intellectually and morally superior D/S/Cs. Sadly, reality has a way of asserting itself, and when it does, it is not the self-imagined elite who immediately suffer, but eventually, they will.
The problem is not the self-imagined elite who eventually suffer. It’s the damage they do and the people they kill, men, women and children just like Mike, me and anybody who reads this along the way. Also the cost in money, time and lives to cause them to suffer, the lost opportunities because of that inevitable struggle, the cost, time and money in repairing the damage. And then in the inevitable stupidity of humanity in a generation or two just start the whole cycle all over again. Because in life the only reliable teacher is personal experience.
Dear zaarin7:
As you note, these are lessons we must relearn, generation after generation. The current generation is learning just how much damage a non-vetted president can do in a very short time. In our current weakened state, America cannot survive four years of a disastrous president.
The laptop story should be the biggest one in America as it shows that there was a co-ordinated plan to put Biden into the presidency and media, big tech, and the FBI were complicit in it. That means that they stole the election. Then there is the matter that the president might also be compromised which would explain a few things he has done since he got the top job.
Dear mickmar21:
Oh, I think there’s little doubt he is compromised, which would certainly explain pretty much everything he’s done, or not done, in office.
