Why is it, gentle readers, people unlikely to believe in God, and least likely to observe His precepts, are most likely to invoke not only God’s blessing, but His mandate on their political preferences?  Why do these people, whose D/S/C Party has kicked God off their political platform, and who routinely call Christians domestic terrorists, racists, and worse, suddenly adopt a cloak of piety when they need to push an unpopular policy?  I speak, of course, of New York Governor Kathy Hochul, a woman for who no one voted, ascended to her office by the fortuitous, long overdue, resignation of the execrable Andrew Cuomo.

Preface this with the understanding it is fundamentally wrong to judge anyone’s relationship with the Almighty.  None may know its existence or depth.  However scripture admonishes us to know others by their fruits, by what they say and do.  We cannot live in safety and security if we refuse to judge others by their words and actions, and Democrats/Socialists/Communists—American Marxism as Mark Levin calls it—gladly separate themselves from God, from any manifestation of faith or the faithful that does not purportedly support their political preferences.  For such, there can be no higher power than the state, its power wielded by the self-imagined elite.  The Daily Wire reports:

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) said at a Sunday mass in the Bronx that Christians who are not vaccinated against COVID ‘aren’t listening to God,’ adding that God wants them vaccinated.

The Democrat notably made the comments one day before her vaccine mandate for health care workers takes effect. The controversial order has already sparked health care worker shortages around the state.

‘Yes, I know you’re vaccinated, you’re the smart ones, but you know, there are people out there who aren’t listening to God and what God wants,’ Hochul said at a Christian Cultural Center service. ‘You know, this, you know who they are.’

Ah.  So God demands vaccination, but the Creator Of All doesn’t know the vaccinated are at no practical danger from those who chose not to be vaccinated?  And those that chose not to be vaccinated are stupid and aren’t listening to God?  I must have somehow missed that in the Scriptures, which I’ve read many, many times.  I am vaccinated, but because I doubt Hochul’s piety, perhaps I’m dumb too?

‘I need you to be my apostles, I need you to go out and talk about it and say, we owe this to each other,’ the Democrat continued. ‘We love each other. Jesus taught us to love one another. And how do you show that love, but to care about each other enough to say, please get vaccinated because I love you. I want you to live.’

Hoschul, who is ostensibly a Catholic, yet is very much pro-abortion, wants apostles?!  Apostles not to spread the Gospel, but to coerce the unwilling to take the jab. Christians, gentle readers, don’t say such things.  Christians know better than to compare themselves, in thought, word and deed, to Christ.  Like Joe Biden, Hochul can’t or won’t reconcile the illogic of claiming the unvaccinated threaten the vaccinated, nor can she recognize those with natural, far more effective, immunity.  Doesn’t God know that if the vaccine is effective this is nonsense?  Hochul, who wants apostles, doesn’t.

Hochul, unlike believing Christians, does not wear a cross, no.  She has adopted the sign of her new, science-based faith.  She’s wearing the symbol, the holy virtue signal of vaccination, like this, among many other examples of D/S/C religious piety available at Amazon:

The jarring comments sparked backlash online. Notably, upstate New York radio host Bob Lonsberry pointedly commented:

By all means, take the link and read the rest, where we learn Hochul is forcing businesses, including hospitals and other health care providers, to fire unvaccinated employees.  One would think if this really were a pandemic, if a virus with a 99.98 % survival rate really were a great concern, New York wouldn’t want to fire the very nurses, doctors and others who have been, for nearly two years, successfully treating Covid patients.  Many of them have never been vaccinated, and many have survived the virus and gained natural immunity, so what has changed?  Nothing medical, nothing scientific, but Hoschul obviously sees political advantage and is more than happy to profane God to secure it.

And how will Hochul make up for a catastrophic lack of medical professionals, a dearth she has created?  She plans to force the National Guard to take their place, that and she’ll import workers—surely at low wages—from the Philippines and elsewhere.  I’m sure Joe Biden will be more than happy to arrange for their transportation, importation, driver’s licenses, free health care and voter registration.  But what of the fate of those former health care heroes, cast out as vaccine sinners, who are to be unemployed, ineligible for unemployment support, made social pariahs?  There is yet hope of salvation.

Jonathan Edwards

Let us, gentle readers, return to July 8, 1741 where one of America’s great theologians, Jonathan Edwards, delivered Sinners In The Hands Of an Angry God, a sermon that arguably was instrumental in inspiring and fueling the first Great Awakening.  We’ll slightly alter some select portions of the text, updating them as delivered by the Right Reverend Hochul in her search for contemporary political vaccination righteousness:

The observation from the words that I would now insist upon is this. ‘There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one moment out of hell, but the mere pleasure of God.’ By the mere pleasure of God, I mean the holy state and federal health bureaucracies and their exalted leaders in the one, true vaccination faith, the governors of the several blue states, his arbitrary will, his word of vaccination, restrained by no obligation, hindered by no manner of difficulty, any more than if nothing else but God’s mere will had in the least degree, or in any respect whatsoever, any hand in the preservation of wicked men one moment.

The truth of this observation may appear by the following considerations. There is no want of power in God to cast wicked, vaccine denying men into hell at any moment. Men’s hands cannot be strong when God rises up. The unvaccinated have no power to resist him, nor can any deliver out of his hands.—He is not only able to cast unvaccinated men into hell, but he can most easily do it. Sometimes an earthly prince meets with a great deal of difficulty to subdue a rebel, who has found means to fortify himself, and has made himself strong by the numbers of his followers. But it is not so with God, whose chosen servant’s mighty vaccination apostles shall crush them. There is no fortress that is any defence from the power of God. Though hand join in hand, and vast multitudes of God’s enemies combine and associate themselves, they are easily, by means of the holy Covid virus, broken in pieces. They are as great heaps of light chaff before the whirlwind; or large quantities of dry stubble before devouring flames. We find it easy to tread on and crush a worm that we see crawling on the earth; so it is easy for us to cut or singe a slender thread that any thing hangs by: thus easy is it for God, when he pleases, to cast his enemies, the unvaccinated, down to hell.

What are we, that we should think to stand before the mighty administrative state, at whose rebuke the earth trembles, and before whom the rocks are thrown down? They deserve to be cast into hell, which is eternal separation from diversity, inclusion and equity; so that divine justice never stands in the way, it makes no objection against God’s using his power at any moment to destroy them. Yea, on the contrary, justice calls aloud for an infinite punishment of their sins, their stubborn, yea, murderous refusal to accept the sacrament of vaccination as offered by the holy Fauci. Divine justice says of the tree that brings forth such grapes of Sodom, ‘Cut it down, why cumbereth it the ground?’ Luke xiii. The mighty syringe of divine justice is every moment brandished over their heads, and it is nothing but the hand of arbitrary mercy, and God’s mere will, at holds it back.

They are now the objects of that very same anger and wrath of God, that is expressed in the torments of hell. And the reason why they do not go down to hell at each moment, is not because God, in whose power they are, is not then very angry with them; as he is with many miserable creatures now tormented in hell, who there feel and bear the fierceness of his wrath. Yea, God is a great deal more angry with great numbers that are now on earth, the willing unvaccinated, the dumb ones, those that do not love and worship their vaccinated brethren: yea, doubtless, with many that are now in this congregation, who it may be are at ease, than he is with many of those who are now in the flames of hell.

The federal and state health bureaucracies that hold you over the pit of hell, much as one holds a spider, or some loathsome insect over the fire, abhor you, just as I–their holy unelected prophet–do, and are dreadfully provoked: their wrath towards you burns like fire; they looks upon you as worthy of nothing else, but to be cast into the fire; they are of purer eyes than to bear to have you in their sight; you are ten thousand times more abominable in their eyes, than the most hateful venomous serpent is in ours. You have offended them infinitely more than ever a stubborn rebel did his prince; and yet it is nothing but their hand that holds you from falling into the fire every moment. It is to be ascribed to nothing else, that you did not go to hell the last night; that you was suffered to awake again in this world, after you closed your eyes to sleep. And there is no other reason to be given, why you have not dropped into hell since you arose in the morning, but that their hand has held you up. There is no other reason to be given why you have not gone to hell, since you have sat here in the house of Science, provoking their pure eyes by your sinful wicked manner of refusing his solemn vaccination sacrament. Yea, there is nothing else that is to be given as a reason why you do not this very moment drop down into hell.

And now you have an extraordinary opportunity, a day wherein the holy Fauci has thrown the door of mercy wide open, and stands in calling and crying with a loud voice to poor sinners; a day wherein many are flocking to him, and pressing into the kingdom of the vaccinated, those who may celebrate Christmas–so long as they’re triple masked and socially distanced and outdoors. Many are daily coming from the east, yea, even the Philippines, the west, north and south; many that were very lately in the same miserable condition that you are in, are now in a happy state, because they have been called up with the rest of the National Guard to replace the unvaccinated sinners, with their hearts filled with love to him who has loved them, and washed them from their sins in his own blood, and rejoicing in hope of the glory of vaccination. How awful is it to be left behind at such a day! To see so many others feasting, while you are pining and perishing! To see so many rejoicing and singing for joy of heart, while you have cause to mourn for sorrow of heart, and howl for vexation of spirit! How can you rest one moment in such a condition? Are not your souls as precious as the souls of the people at Suffield, where they are flocking from day to day to vaccination? Why wait you another moment to take unto yourself the blessings of vaccination?

In many ways, we’ve never moved beyond the excesses, rigidity and hellfire of Puritanism.  The only real difference is contemporary vaccination Puritans are intent on turning the earthly existence of those choosing not to be vaccinated, and those with natural immunity, into torment worse than Hell.  It’s only to save their political souls, of course, a new sort of “tough love” for those too dumb to shut up and take the jab.
