I am about, gentle readers, to suggest what will surely be labeled a crazy conspiracy theory. I would normally post an education article today, but engage in a bit of political speculation instead, shall we? By merely reading these words, and considering their plausibility, you too will surely be labeled a conspiracy nut. But for the moment, speech is relatively free, as long as one is not trying to exercise it on social media. So let’s leap right in with both feet.
In the old Soviet Union, and in China today, conscripts—members of the military—were sent as far as possible from their homes to serve. This is so because they were often used as internal security forces, expected to use whatever force was necessary to put down rebellion. It was understood such people would not be fond of the idea of killing their own tribes, friends, neighbors and families, but their empire and country were so vast, they could easily be sent to places where they didn’t know anyone. And of course, if they still refused to kill on command, they would themselves be killed, the better to encourage others. Conscripts are easy to find, and easier to dispose of, in a communist dictatorship.
This is not currently so in America, largely because of the Posse Comitatus Act:
18 U.S. Code § 1385
Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.
“Posse comitatus” means “power of the country.” It’s the origin of the term common in movie westerns, “posse,” a group of citizens called to service by a sheriff to temporarily help enforce the law. The PC Act is drilled into the heads of everyone, enlisted and officer, during basic military training, because it means the military may not be used to enforce criminal law in the United States. This is a good thing. They’re not trained or equipped for it, and the temptation to abuse military power is always there.
Imagine, however, a despotic government wants to use the military, or something like them, to enforce criminal law, precisely because they’re trained and equipped to utterly destroy an enemy. Imagine a bit further they didn’t want to use the active duty military because, stupid and unenlightened as they are, they might not be politically reliable and would refuse to shoot fellow Americans. What to do? What to do?
What’s that you say? Surely no American government would want to do something like that! Let us travel back to an article in The American Thinker by Doug Mainwaring in 2013:
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Candidate Obama sent red flags up all over the country when he strongly proposed a ‘Civilian security force.’ [skip]
‘We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,’ Obama said. ‘We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.’
That very suggestion touched off a firestorm of righteous blowback, and it was quickly scrubbed from the lightbringer’s campaign literature. After all, such a “civilian national security force” just might be misused, or at least paranoid Deplorables might think so. However, Obama was not the first D/S/C to salivate over the thought of that kind of personal “national security force,” nor is he, certainly, the last.
Consider the Kelly Turnbull novels of Kurt Schlichter. They are the topic of an article I posted back in March of 2019. At the time, there were three in the series. Now, there are five, with a sixth due in 2021. By all means, take the link, read the review, and read the series.
You should at least read the first of the series—People’s Republic–for the world created by Schlichter is manifesting before our eyes. Being forewarned might help us stave off that future, which any free man or woman must fervently desire. In that world, the United States has split into two nations, the blue “People’s Republic of North America,” which is basically the current leftist coasts, and red America, Flyover Country, with its capital in Dallas. Red America honors a somewhat more strict Constitution–the law–all law–is universally enforced and no one votes without mandatory, honorable military service. The People’s Republic—well, imagine the worst politically correct, woke lunacy you can imagine and multiply by several orders of magnitude.
Important for this article is the internal security apparatus of the People’s Republic: the People’s Bureau of Investigation, the People’s Security Force, and the People’s Volunteers. The PBI is a combination CIA, NSA and FBI. They are the most professional, powerful and politically reliable of national enforcers. The PSF are uniformed patrol/police officers, the replacements for local sheriffs and police agencies. The PV are criminals, given AK-47s and pseudo-official vehicles, and allowed to prey on the public as they please. Here’s the most important fact: they’re all federal officers. In The People’s Republic, the police have been federalized, and the law is whatever they, or their masters, say it is. All of them prey on the public; all have the power of life and death; all are unanswerable to the people, who have no unalienable liberties and exist—or not–at the whim of the state, which starves them, freezes them in winter, cooks them in summer, denies them medical care, and often, their lives.
If you know where I’m going with this, please don’t tell anyone just yet, and keep reading. I may have a surprise or two for you.
Imagine now, gentle readers, you want to disarm the population. In fact, you absolutely need to do that because you know you can’t enact your agenda, you can’t establish utopia and save the planet if the peasants are armed. Stupid and unenlightened as they are, they just might shoot you seriously dead. You don’t give a damn about the Constitution, but you do need, for at least awhile, to maintain appearances, so you’ve packed the Supreme Court and know whatever you do from that point will be rubber stamped. Goodbye, annoying and dangerous Second Amendment! Goodbye annoying and dangerous First Amendment! Goodbye annoying Fourth Amendment! You get to search and seize anything and anyone you want whenever you want, and to hell with that “warrant,” “equal justice for all,” and “rule of law” nonsense.
But you still have a major problem: local cops. Out there in Flyover Country, those politically unreliable rednecks aren’t going to go door to door to seize guns, and they’re certainly not going to do what’s necessary—shoot anyone daring to resist—to take all those guns. They just don’t have the evolved vision, intelligence, morality and social consciousness of scientific D/S/Cs. Even in D/S/C controlled cities, lots of cops aren’t going to be sufficiently politically reliable. And that’s not all; those yokels aren’t going to enforce any other righteous governmental mandates. Why, some of them might actually use force against noble federal officers!
If you get rid of the cops, you’re only going to have to deal with the Deplorables, and they’re no match for a modern paramilitary force with all kinds of stuff that explodes in shiny ways that will look good on government nightly news. Besides, as Eric “small wang, Fang Fang” Swalwell said, the government has nucs, and who’s going to miss some piddely city in Flyover Country anyway? That kind of stuff would only encourage the remaining Deplorables to do what’s right. They just never seem to figure out what’s good for them.
You solve that problem by federalizing the police. Most of the honest, moral —politically unreliable—and competent ones would quit if you did, which helps simplify things. And you’d probably do it just as Schlichter predicted. You’d have a PBI, which would not only watch the restive population, they’d watch the PSF and the PV. That would solve the ancient dilemma of: Quis custodiet ipsos custode?–roughly: who will watch the watchers? There would, of course, have to be an ultra-secret group of watchers for the PBI, but we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves.
Of course, the PSF, beyond harassing and shaking down the population, would watch the PV too. They, after all, are pretty stupid and violent, but they’re useful in keeping the Deplorables off balance and occupied with merely staying alive and not getting their wives and daughters raped. It’s hard for them to revolt if that occupies most of their time.
Now you can concentrate on the really important stuff, like disarming the people, because you know your federal police are politically reliable. They get perks and power everyone else doesn’t get. That will attract a great many of the right kind–sociopaths, felons and psychopaths–to federal service. Oh, and they know you’ll kill them if they balk at doing anything you want them to do.
The January 6th event at the Capital left many D/S/Cs very upset. Why? Because many of the Capital Police were not politically reliable. They sympathized with the “protestors.” They let them in and only shot one of them! One, when they had the a perfect, carefully planned opportunity to send a message to the God and gun clingers! They will, hereafter, be very careful about ensuring the political reliability of the police–who they hate–guarding them, and they’ll carry that attitude over to federalizing all police–who they hate–as if they didn’t have that idea in the first place.
Here’s where we all get called crazy conspiracy nuts. Where’d I put my tinfoil hat? It keeps the aliens from shooting Z-rays into my brain… But just for fun, let’s ask what we’d need to make this sort of thing happen.
Obviously, we’d want to diminish or eliminate as many police forces as we can. Defund/abolish the police! We’d also turn the public against them, and make it plain the politicians responsible for public safety would not only fail to support them, they’d actively try to persecute/prosecute them. That would make a lot of them quit or retire, and would make them as ineffective as possible out of a very reasonable fear it they did their jobs, it would be they, not criminals, who would end up in jail. If we promise the Deplorables federalizing the police would restore law and order, plenty of suckers would fall for that. After all, that’s a classic D/S/C tactic: destroy something completely so Deplorables will take whatever you’re selling, forgetting it was you that destroyed things in the first place.
But what about criminals? How do we get them to do what we want? Easy. Install criminal loving leftist lunatics as prosecutors and judges! That will help create the chaos necessary for Deplorables to beg for federalized police, and it will also make criminals beholden to the Federal government. Imagine how easy it will be to get them onboard when they learn you’re going to give them automatic weapons from our good trading partner China, cars and gas when virtually no one else can get either, and leave to do pretty much whatever they want to whoever they want whenever they want, just as long as they also do what you say when you say it.
Whew! Isn’t it a good thing none of those preconditions for federalizing the police are actually happening…what’s that you say? They’ve been happening for a year or more? Oh.
But wait a minute; what about the military? Why wouldn’t you just use them if you don’t give a damn about the Constitution or breaking any inconvenient law? Not only are they not politically reliable because too many of them wouldn’t be fond of killing fellow Americans, there isn’t much military left after you’ve turned every branch into a critical race theory experiment and taken most of their funding to combat climate change, sexism, transphobia and systemic racism. Whoever remains is probably only there because they get a little more to eat than most people, at least some of the time.
Hmmm. Maybe, gentle readers, maybe we’re not actually all that crazy after all. Bookmark this conspiracy theory. Extra credit for whoever reports back first when D/S/Cs politicians start suggesting, as former Senator Tom Daschle said about the Transportation Security Administration: “you can’t professionalize unless you federalize.”
That’s worked out swimmingly.
UPDATE, 01-17-21, 2215 MT: Newsmax.com, which CNN is trying to get deplatformed, reports:
U.S. defense officials say they are worried about an insider attack or other threat from service members involved in securing President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, prompting the FBI to vet all of the 25,000 National Guard troops coming into Washington for the event.
The massive undertaking reflects the extraordinary security concerns that have gripped Washington following the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump rioters. And it underscores fears that some of the very people assigned to protect the city over the next several days could present a threat to the incoming president and other VIPs in attendance.
In other words, our military is politically unreliable. Apparently, the FBI is considered politically reliable. They are going to need a great many more reliable enforcers. Of course, if something were to happen, if there were some politically reliable people in uniform, what a perfect excuse to eliminate civil liberties…
UPDATE, 01-18-21, 1520 MT: You’re being ridiculous! D/S/Cs aren’t that crazy! Let’s visit Brietbart.com to see:
Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen (TN) on Monday suggested that white male service members could be a threat, based on his claim that most white men did not vote for Joe Biden. [skip]
According to a transcript, Cohen said:
‘I was reading about this on my Twitter account, I guess, and people were reminding people of Anwar Sadat and Indira Gandhi who were killed by their own people. I was thinking, the guard is 90 some odd percent, I believe, male.
Only about 20 percent of white males voted for Biden. You have got to figure that the guard, which is predominantly more conservative and I see that on my social media, and we know it, they are probably 25 percent of the people that are there protecting us who voted for Biden.
The other 75 percent are in the class that would be the large class of folks who might want to do something. And there were military people and police who took oath to defend the Constitution and to protect and defend who didn’t do it who were in the insurrection. So it does concern me. But the vetting at the last minute —‘
Yes. They are that crazy, and more.
