I’m sure you recall, gentle readers, the final presidential debate.  May I call your attention particularly to the portion of that event where Kristen Welker brought up immigration, but in a way that gave Joe Biden a perfect and obviously previously prepared—I’ve little doubt Biden was given the questions in advance–avenue of attack on President Trump.  From the debate transcript:

Kristen Welker: (32:37)
We’re going to talk about immigration now, gentlemen. And we’re going to talk about families within this context. Mr. President, your administration separated children from their parents at the border, at least 4,000 kids. You’ve since reversed your zero tolerance policy, but the United States can’t locate the parents of more than 500 children. So how will these families ever be reunited?

Donald Trump: (32:57)
Children are brought here by coyotes and lots of bad people, cartels…

Donald Trump: (33:02)
[inaudible 00:33:00] and lots of bad people, cartels, and they’re brought here and they used to use them to get into our country. We now have as strong a border as we’ve ever had. We’re over 400 miles of brand new wall. You see the numbers. And we let people in, but they have to come in legally and they come in through [crosstalk 00:00:17]-

Kristen Welker: (33:17)
But how will you reunite these kids with their families, Mr. President?

Donald Trump: (33:20)
But let me just tell you. Let me just tell you. They built cages. They used to say I built the cages, and then they had a picture in a certain newspaper, and it was the picture of these horrible cages and they said, “Look at these cages. President Trump built them.” And then it was determined they were built in 2014. That was him. They built cages.

Kristen Welker: (33:39)
Do you have a plan to reunite the kids with their families?

Donald Trump: (33:39)
Yes. We’re working on it very… We’re trying very hard. But a lot of these kids come out without the parents. They come over through cartels and through coyotes and through gangs.

Kristen Welker: (33:48)
Vice President Biden, let me bring you into this conversation. Quick response, and then another question to you.

Joe Biden: (33:52)
These 500-plus kids came with parents. They separated them at the border to make it a disincentive to come to begin with. “Be real tough. We’re really strong.” And guess what? They cannot… Coyotes didn’t bring them over. Their parents were with them. They got separated from their parents. And it makes us a laughingstock and violates every notion of who we are as a nation.

Kristen Welker: (34:18)
Let me ask you a followup question.

Donald Trump: (34:19)
Kristen, they did it. We changed the policy. They did it. We changed.

Kristen Welker: (34:22)
Your response to that?

Joe Biden: (34:22)
We did not separate the [crosstalk 00:34:25]-

Donald Trump: (34:26)
They built the cages. Who built the cages, Joe?

Joe Biden: (34:27)
Let’s talk about what we’re talking about.

Donald Trump: (34:28)
Who built the cages, Joe?

Joe Biden: (34:29)
Let’s talk about what we’re talking about. What happened? Parents were ripped… Their kids were ripped from their arms and separated, and now they cannot find over 500 of the sets of those parents, and those kids are alone. Nowhere to go. Nowhere to go. It’s criminal. It’s criminal.

What Welker, Biden, and virtually every D/S/C media propaganda source never mention is when parents are arrested, whether they are illegal immigrants at a border, or citizens anywhere in the nation, the police are responsible for taking care of the children.  For citizens, they can often be turned over to relatives, but for illegals, it’s another story.  The federal government is responsible for their room and board and general well being.  We’ll get to the substance of Biden and Welker’s emotional dripping accusation shortly, but there is some grim humor associated with this situation.  Immediately after the debate, social media was full of the self-imagined elite’s outrage at the stupidity of Donald Trump.  A small sample:

Readers may recognize David Hogg of Parkland infamy.  He was the primary face of the “we must destroy the Constitution because the children say so” movement.  He is now at Harvard, and is apparently learning no more than he knew in high school:

“Coyotes” as most Americans know, are criminals, human smugglers who, for exorbitant fees, smuggle human beings across the southern border.  They care nothing for their victims, who are often found crammed into vehicles, dying or dead from heat stroke and dehydration.  The Babylon Bee had a bit of fun with the stupidity of the self-imagined elite:

Rep. Andy Biggs is more grounded in reality:

And so is Lisa Carr at Victory Girls Blog:

Lucian K. Truscott IV of Salon has a sad again. So much sadness he wrote his heart out in a post yesterday. Sadness and melancholy and doom and gloom.

How many times can you say ‘I’m so sorry’ without the words losing their meaning? How many times can you answer a text or an instant message or an email by typing ‘I’m so sorry’ without becoming inured to the feeling of sorrow? Even if you manage to pause your constant grief, you’re hit between the eyes with another statistic, another story. The day the coronavirus death total hit 220,000, we learned that the parents of 545 children who were separated at the border cannot be found. Can you even imagine?

-Lucian K. Truscott IV

The horror.

So. Much. Sadness. The COVID. The racial divide. Children at the border separated from their families. George Floyd murdered on a street in Minneapolis by a policeman. The utter destruction that followed on our city streets. Wildfires in the west.

Hopefully you’ve been able to dry your eyes sufficiently to continue reading, gentle readers, because Stacey Lennox at PJ Media has the facts about those 545 children so horribly abused by the evil Trump:

Glenn Beck reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for a response and read it on the air in his post-debate coverage. The response regarding family reunification came from Chase Jennings at DHS:

This narrative has been dispelled on numerous occasions. DHS has taken every step to facilitate the reunification of these families where the parents wanted such reunification to occur. [emphasis mine]The simple fact is, after contact was made with the parents to reunite them with their children, many parents have refused. In the current litigation for example, out of the parents of 485 children whose plaintiff’s counsels have been able to contact, they have yet to identify a single family that wants their child reunited with them in their country. [emphasis mine] The result is the children remain in the U.S. while their parents remain in the home country. The reunification process is a whole of government approach involving CBP, ICE, and HHS.

Keep in mind if those parents wanted to be unified with their children, the US Government would pay all expenses to fly them to their country of origin, into their parent’s arms.  We’ve no way of knowing why those parents didn’t want to be reunited with their children—their children.  Perhaps they believe they’ll be better off in America.  Perhaps they were too poor to care for them.  Or perhaps they’re just horrible people.  Americans often make the mistake of believing people in other countries, particularly socialist/communist dictatorships and other third world hell holes are just like Americans.  Why, they share the same hopes, desires and morals Americans do. They all had free education through the 12th grade that inculcated in them the same ethics as Americans.  All too often, that’s not at all true.  But in this case, Joe Biden and Kristen Welker shed crocodile tears over nothing much.

What of those children who can’t be reunited with parents?  They’ll be cared for.  Perhaps foster homes will be found for them.  Perhaps they’ll be adopted.  But they won’t be starving, pimped, or otherwise abused in third world cesspits.

You won’t be hearing the facts from D/S/C media propaganda mills.  As Joe Biden said, they believe in truth over facts and Joe Biden’s truth is usually a lie.
