As we age, the hardware becomes creaky and some parts fail.  The software becomes buggy to one degree or another, and sometimes, crashes.  My sister and I watched the slow decline of our father, who eventually could no longer control his bladder, nor did he seem to care–if he was aware of it.  I find, particularly when I’m tired, it is, upon occasion, difficult to immediately recall a given word, or to recall a name.  They always come to me—thus far–within seconds, and I’m seeing no other signs of impairment, yet some degree of decline in cognitive sharpness is the fate of us all.  I can still do pretty much everything I’ve always done—except marathons; only bicycling for me now—but I have to concentrate harder and focus more acutely for some of it.

And no, the occasional misspelling, wrong usage or other bobble in writing isn’t a sign of my impending mental demise.  Some of that is spell and grammar checkers overriding me, and the rest is due to the fact it’s very difficult to proofread your own writing.  For your occasional catches of such things, gentle readers, I’m always grateful.  It’s so hard to be perfect…

And then there is Joe Biden, for who I am not grateful.

D/S/Cs find themselves in a quandary of their own making.  They have moved so far to the left, Bernie Sanders, a communist masking as a “democratic socialist”—a misnomer if ever there was one—may yet provoke a brokered convention.  Either he’ll have more delegates than Biden, or he’ll be so close, the bloodletting will be prodigious.  As much as much of the D/S/C base would love to see Sanders fundamentally transform the country, Some D/S/Cs are smart enough to realize Sanders would likely be an electoral disaster for them, not only losing the White House, but keeping the Senate in Republican hands and restoring the House to them as well.  Maybe.

Which leaves them with Gropin’ Joe Biden.

Is Stoller right?  Why would they ignore such prodigious evidence of Biden’s obvious mental decline?  Do they hate Trump so much they’re willing to overlook it?  Are they that desperate to deny the nomination to Sanders?  Is there more evidence of Biden’s decline?

During the brief address [7 minutes in St. Louis], Biden, 77, declared: ‘If you want a nominee who will bring this party together, who will run a progressive, positive campaign, and turn, turn this primary from a campaign that’s about negative attacks into one that’s about what we’re for — because we cannot get — re-elect — we cannot win this re-election — excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump — if, in fact, we get engaged in this circular firing squad here. Gotta be a positive campaign, so join us.’

Biden also bizarrely described himself as an ‘O’Biden Bama’ Democrat, transposing his name and the name of his old boss.

OK, so he forgets his own name.  He’s busy…

OK, so he forgets Obama’s name…

Twice…

There are reports Biden’s handlers are doing their best to ensure he seldom, if ever, has the opportunity to go off teleprompter, and they’re limiting him to 7 minutes or so on the stump…

Everyone occasionally misspeaks.  We all make mistakes, particularly when we’re tired or stressed, which is pretty much the definition of campaigning.  But Mr. Biden’s problems appear to go beyond that.  He is 77 years old.  Bernie Sanders is 78 years old.  Donald Trump is 73 years old.  One might suggest 4-5 years doesn’t make much of a difference, which is likely true when one is in their 20s or 30s, but not so in their 70s.

So if D/S/Cs know about Joe’s difficulties, which are going to become so obvious and disastrous they can’t be ignored when he debates Trump, what’s their game?

Is that it?  They’re going to cruelly let Biden destroy himself in the public eye, then anoint Hillary to sweep in and save the day?  Does anyone really think it a coincidence her four-hour, tongue bathing, TV crockumentary is airing in the middle of all of his?  Is she angling to be Biden’s VP, knowing that would increase her chance of becoming president four years later, or sooner if his mental decline accelerates.

Bad things tend to happen to people that get in Hillary’s way.

Just think of the blackmail potential from hostile foreign governments—China, Iran and Russia come to mind—from classified materials hacked from Hillary’s illegal server, or from the multi-millions given to the Clinton Foundation.  Or is there another outcome waiting in the wings?

A popular line of thinking is that Biden’s ticket must offer a bold choice that also ensures the kind of strong minority turnout that eluded Hillary Clinton in 2016. Jim Clyburn, the House majority whip whose last-minute endorsement of Biden delivered a South Carolina primary landslide for him, has a clear idea.

‘I doubt very seriously you’ll see a Democratic slate this year without a woman on it,’ Clyburn predicted to reporters. ‘I would love for it to be a person of color.’

Clyburn was echoed by Valerie Jarrett, who was a senior adviser to President Obama for eight years. She told CBS News that the Democratic nominee should ‘break with conventional wisdom and announce a running mate that’s a woman of color.’

Jarrett was then cut off, so she didn’t get the chance to say who she thought that running mate should be. But no one is closer to the Obamas. Few believe that Jarrett would have expressed the preference for a woman of color unless she thought that someone she’s been close to for nearly 30 years was in the mix: Michelle Obama.

I’ve been suggesting for some time that Michelle Obama could be the D/S/C savior:

Drafted against her will—how sad!–but nobly willing to sacrifice herself to accept to save the country from liberty, the rule of law and prosperity, Michelle Obama would stride manfully onstage dressed as a lizard thigh boot-clad banana to thunderous applause, having suffered none of the interminable D/S/C debates.  Saved from having to agree with the other candidates in their rush to build another Venezuela, she could appear somewhat American–if one doesn’t look too closely or for too long.  She has scant political baggage, and she recently published a book that would be endlessly excerpted by the media in embarrassingly gushing prose.

The media, which has long ago taken sides, would pull out all the stops to boost her as much as possible.  We would witness an entirely new definition of softball, tongue bathing interviews, even surpassing the ‘why are you so wonderful?’ standard of media Hillary interviews. After all, Barack Obama was the D/S/C messiah.  Wouldn’t some of that rub off on Michelle?  Isn’t she, by association, at least a demi-god?  Surely Barack and Michelle haven’t been planning anything like this?  They’re not the type of people to engage in such Machiavellian intrigues.  Are they?

Barack Obama has repeatedly said Michelle would never run for public office, and he wouldn’t lie about a thing like that, would he?  Would he—and Michelle—be satisfied with the mere vice presidency, an office Former VP John Nance Garner once said was “not worth a bucket of warm spit.”  There is evidence he actually said “warm piss,” but the media was a bit more gentile then (1930s).   Wouldn’t we all be better off with her as president?  Isn’t it time for a black, female president?  Have Americans sufficiently atoned for their racial and sexist sins, or would a Michelle Obama presidency be necessary to expiate their guilt, as Barack Obama’s presidency wiped away some racial stain or other?  Wait a minute.  We’re all still racist, so I guess Barack didn’t work so well after all, which is all the more reason for Michelle.  Maybe complete forgiveness for our racial sins will take this time?  True, she doesn’t like America or Americans, but that’s true of virtually all the D/S/C candidates, so we can’t be picky.

Would Barack countenance Hillary taking the VP, or presidential, spot?  There is no love lost between the Clintons and Obamas, and Barack still surely imagines himself a messiah.  That’s a hard self-image to shake after eight years of drooling worshipers, and not just the media.

One cannot help but feel sorrow for Mr. Biden, and disgust for those parading his decline in public, including his own family, but that’s just the kind of people they are, and apparently, the kind of people they’d like us all to be.  That’s the point of fundamental transformation: to make us all better, you know–like them.

PRE-POSTING UPDATE:  Yeah, you want to threaten and shout obscenities at union workers if you’re a democrat, as Fox News reports:

Former Vice President Joe Biden got into a heated and profanity-laced argument with a worker at a Fiat-Chrysler auto plant in Detroit on Tuesday, after the individual accused the Democratic presidential candidate of trying to take away his Second Amendment rights.

‘You’re full of sh– … I support the Second Amendment,’ Biden shot back, stressing he’s not going to take guns away.

The worker then told Biden, ‘You’re working for me, man,’ and told Biden that he saw an online video supporting his claim that Biden is hostile to the Second Amendment.

Biden, pointing at the individual as they were mere inches apart in the middle of a crowd, said he’s not working for him and told him not to be ‘such a horse’s a–.’

Biden, at one point mistakenly referring to ‘AR-14’s,’ went on to press the individual to acknowledge that machine guns are illegal. Biden appeared to then misspeak in saying AR-15’s are illegal, before questioning why anyone needs ‘100 rounds.’

The dispute, caught on camera, happened at the Fiat-Chrysler plant as Biden stumped for votes in Michigan, the biggest prize among the states voting Tuesday with 125 delegates at stake.

Uh Joe, the Second Amendment is not about hunting.  It’s about keeping people like you from violating the rights of people like the honest American you called “a horse’s ass.”  Talk about projection…  Oh, and politicians do work for the American people, not the other way around.
