As one might expect, if they’re not a deranged Trump hater, the latest “this time we’ll get Trump for sure,” never-ending coup attempt is falling apart before the horrified, red, bulging eyes of Democrats/Socialists/Communists.  Sean Davis at The Federalist notes:

The similarities between the anti-Trump Russian collusion operation and the fledgling anti-Trump Ukraine operation are eerie. If not for the utter implosion of the Russian collusion nonsense, culminating in a two-year special counsel investigation run by anti-Trump partisans that nonetheless found zero collusion, the Ukraine operation might almost be believable.

The thinly sourced rumors, the bombshell evidence that was always just around the next corner, the hyperventilating media coverage, the demands for ever more invasive investigative enemas from left-wing lawmakers like Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the fact that the alleged crimes were all committed not by Trump, but by his political opponents. If we hadn’t already been shown this same movie over and over and over again for three years, it might actually be interesting.

Instead, it’s just another manufactured narrative peddled by partisans desperate to prevent anyone from shining a spotlight on their own shenanigans. Just as the Russian collusion conspiracy begins and ends with Hillary Clinton, the Ukraine corruption scandal begins and ends with Joe and Hunter Biden. And just as they did with the investigation of the Russia hoax, their media allies will do everything in their power to make sure that evidence never sees the light of day.

As more and more information becomes available, it’s clear Davis is right.  This is just another part of the never-ending coup, and it’s designed to deflect attention from the crimes of D/S/Cs, desperate to distract the public from the upcoming Inspector General’s report, to say nothing of the DOJ’s criminal investigation that will almost certainly see coup plotters indicted, plotters in a line directly to Barack Obama and his cronies.  It’s also likely various members of Congress were actively involved, not just carrion eaters capitalizing on what they foolishly perceived to be the weakness of a wounded president.

Consider this from Brietbart.com:

Democrats wrote to the Ukrainian government in May 2018 urging it to continue investigations into President Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia in the 2016 presidential campaign — collusion later found not to exist.

The demand, which came from U.S. Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Dick Durbin (D-IL), and Patrick Leahy (D-VT), resurfaced Wednesday in an opinion piece written by conservative Marc Thiessen in the Washington Post.

We’re discovering even more information that the Democrats/coup plotters have been pressuring Ukraine for years in a crude attempt to prevent Donald Trump’s election and to depose him thereafter.

The Democrats’ letter is available online here. In it, Menendez, Durbin, and Leahy demanded that the Ukrainian government answer their questions about the Mueller probe, and issued an implied threat: ‘This reported refusal to cooperate with the Mueller probe also sends a worrying signal — to the Ukrainian people as well as the international community — about your government’s commitment more broadly to support justice and the rule of law.

As promised, President Trump has released the transcript of his phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky, as Fox News reports:

‘There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great,’ Trump said in the phone call. ‘Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it…It sounds horrible to me.’

This refers to Joe Biden, while vice president, urging Ukraine to fire its top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the natural gas firm Burisma Holdings — where Hunter Biden was on the board. Biden has maintained that corruption concerns prompted his intervention.

The transcript also reveals it was President Zelensky that raised the issue of Joe and Hunter Biden, not President Trump.

On Monday, it was reported that Trump had even ordered his staff to freeze nearly $400 million in aid to Ukraine a few days before the phone call with Zelensky, a detail that fueled impeachment calls and led House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to announce a formal impeachment inquiry Tuesday. But the call transcript does not show Trump mentioning the aid as a bargaining chip or otherwise — though Zelensky did appear to reference military aid early in the call, when he thanked Trump for ‘great support in the area of defense.’

Zelensky thanked Mr. Trump for militarily supporting Ukraine.  There was no indication that Mr. Trump in any way suggested a quid pro quo.  To D/S/C/s way of thinking, that’s impeachable conduct.

The transcript shows Zelensky eventually suggesting to Trump the Biden matter would be looked into by a new prosecutor. ‘He or she will look into the situation specifically to the company that you mentioned in this issue, the issue of the investigation of the case is actually the issue to restore the honesty so we will take care of that and we will work on the investigation of the case.’

Zelensky was elected on a promise to stamp our endemic corruption.  It’s hardly surprising he would want to reinstate an investigation halted by his predecessor under a crude threat from then Vice President Joe Biden, a threat aimed at stopping a criminal investigation of the firm–Burisma–hat was paying Hunter Biden $50,000 dollars and more a month–eventually more than $3 million dollars–for services for which he had no apparent experience or expertise.  There is no way Biden could have provided services of that value.  Obviously, Burisma was currying the favor of the Obama Administration.

But the Justice Department – in a new letter from the Office of Legal Counsel obtained by Fox News – is pushing back on the claim that the whistleblower brought out something of ‘urgent concern’ that would have to be turned over to Congress.

‘For the reasons set forth above, we conclude that the complaint submitted to the [intelligence community inspector general] does not involve an ‘urgent concern’…’  It adds: ‘As a result, the statute does not require that the [Director of National Intelligence] transmit the complaint to the intelligence committees.’

Which, of course, frustrates the current, continuing coup attempt in Congress.

The DOJ opinion also said the intelligence community inspector general found ‘some indicia of an arguable political bias on the part of the complainant in favor of a rival political candidate,’ but still said the allegations ‘appeared credible.’ Fox News previously reported that, according to a source, the individual also did not have ‘firsthand knowledge’ of the phone call.

At the moment, the credibility of the complainant appears to be entirely lacking.

Sources, meanwhile, said the original allegations spoke to a possible campaign finance violation, but the DOJ concluded that Trump’s request for an investigation did not qualify as a ‘thing of value’ for his campaign – and therefore did not constitute a criminal violation.

President Trump is asking the President of a foreign country whose agents were apparently materially involved in a coup attempt aimed at overturning a lawfully conducted American election, to help the DOJ identify the people involved in the commission of many federal crimes of the sort that have destabilized our political system and thrown the future, lawful, peaceful transition of power into doubt.  He’s doing what he was elected to do, and what the constitution requires of him.  That Joe Biden and his son appear to have violated the laws of several countries, in the process badly abusing the power of the office of the Vice President, is the issue, not the fact that Biden might—and this looks less likely every day—be the 2020 D/S/C nominee president.  If Biden is harmed by the results of a properly, lawfully conducted investigation, that’s his fault, not President Trump’s.

The transcript also shows Trump asking for a ‘favor’ in the form of Ukraine providing information about the hacking of the DNC server in 2016. He referenced CrowdStrike, a cyber firm used by the DNC to investigate the attacks.

‘I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike… I guess you have one of your wealthy people… The server, they say Ukraine has it,’ Trump said.

She’d know about betraying America…

Here Mr. Trump is seeking information about a crime against The DNC.  IF there is a “bombshell” in this situation, it’s that the long missing DNC server is apparently somewhere in Ukraine.  How it got there is anybody’s guess.  One would think D/S/C’s would be appreciative, but one would have to understand the DNC surely does not want any of that hacked material to be exposed.  And in furtherance of an investigation Mr. Trump would be derelict not to pursue:

During the call, Trump also blasted what he referred to as Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ‘very poor performance’ before Congress in July about the Trump-Russia investigation. Trump added, ‘a lot of it started with Ukraine’ and asked for help in gathering information about the probe’s origins. ‘Whatever you can do, it’s very important that you do it if that’s possible,’ Trump said.

As one might expect, D/S/Cs not only moved the goalposts, they engaged in the spittle flinging hyperbole that has become their standard operating procedure since election night, 2016, as Fox News reports:

This is a classic Mafia-like shakedown of a foreign leader,’ House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said Wednesday.

Of course.  Mr. Trump takes President Zelensky, elected on the promise of fighting corruption, at his word and seeks his help.  This is what the mafia does; fights corruption.  Mr. Zelensky was not at all helpful to the D/S/C cause:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting in New York with President Trump, told reporters Wednesday that he was not pressured to investigate the Biden family during their now-controversial phone call over the summer.

‘Nobody pushed me,’ Zelensky said.

The comments come after the White House released a transcript reflecting that call. It showed Trump sought a probe into Biden family dealings in the country, though did not show Trump explicitly linking the request to U.S. aid as had been suspected.

‘We had a great phone call,’ Zelensky added. ‘It was normal.’

Even if President Trump had threatened to withhold money in exchange for behavior benefiting the United States, this is precisely what we elect a president to do.  It’s what the leaders of nations do every day in conducting foreign policy.  That Joe Biden may have entangled himself in all manner of corruption, and that Obama Administration corruption may hurt his presidential chances circa 2019 is incidental, and not at all criminal or improper on Mr. Trump’s part.  D/S/Cs screaming about Mr. Trump’s “unusual” comportment in office is nothing so much as an indictment of Barack Obama and other former presidents who did not, in fact, put America first, and allowed foreign governments, including manifestly hostile regimes, to take America to the cleaners.

D/S/Cs are used to Republicans collapsing in fear at the slightest hint of a fake scandal.  That isn’t working with Donald Trump, and its only going to get worse, as Fox News reports:

A defiant President Trump said during a press conference in New York Wednesday that he wants “full transparency” not only over the ‘so-called whistleblower’ allegations leveled against him, but also ‘from Joe Biden and his son Hunter on the millions of dollars that have been quickly and easily taken out of Ukraine and China.’

Trump additionally demanded ‘transparency from Democrats who went to Ukraine and attempted to force the new president … to do things that they wanted under the form of political threat. They threatened him if he didn’t do things — now that’s what they’re accusing me of, but I didn’t do it.’ [skip]

‘Additionally, I demand transparency from Democrats that went to Ukraine and attempted to force the new President to do things that they wanted under the form of political threat,’ he added.

What Mr. Trump is saying has the advantage of being the truth, as well as being backed by facts.  This isn’t going to get better for D/S/Cs, but will greatly enhance Republican turn out on Election Day.  As it turns out, that will be necessary to counter what will surely be unprecedented vote fraud.  No one should get cocky, but this is shaping up to be a debacle of enormous proportions for the D/S/Cs.  It couldn’t happen to more deserving people, and the best part is, it will be self-inflicted.

The entire transcript of Mr. Trump and Mr. Zelensky’s conversation is available here.
