Andrew McCabe

Let us assume, gentle readers, that the execrable and manifestly untrustworthy Andrew McCabe, disgraced ex-deputy Director of the FBI, is, for once, telling the truth.  I initially approached this subject under Andrew McCabe: House Cleaning.  Let us ignore, for the sake of argument, that McCabe was the number two man in the FBI, a man with access to not only great power, but to innumerable national security secrets.  There is reason to believe he is telling the truth.  Not only would virtually everything else publically known and suspected about the RUSSIA COLLUSION TRUMP! mania make sense if he were, but McCabe is admitting to sedition and perhaps a variety of other federal crimes.

A brief review: As the 2016 presidential election drew near, the Obama Administration, and all of the individuals and agencies it had long ago turned into Democrat-controlled political weapons, began to panic.  Their illegal surveillances, leaks, illegal unmasking of citizen’s identities, all their underhanded political efforts, all of their covering up of the grotesquely blatant and stupid violations of national security and federal law of Hillary Clinton and her dim-witted cronies, were in danger of failing.  Against all odds, against the inevitable arc of socialist history and social justice, Donald Trump might—gasp!–be elected president.

The FBI, the DOJ. The CIA, our entire intelligence apparatus, every Obamite criminal functionary like Susan Rice, Samantha Power–the list is endless–and every other card-carrying member of the Deep State, was horrified.  FBI thugs Peter Strzok and Lisa Page reassured themselves—in strikingly juvenile and obscene terms–Trump would never be elected.  They would stop him; they had “insurance.”  Perhaps they thought themselves the protectors of the Constitution, the last guardians at the gate, holding back the hordes of normal Americans who could never be trusted to vote for the right–Left–people.

And then the unthinkable happened: Trump was elected. Oh, what a terrible day that was.  Hillary Clinton, the elderly, sickly, doddering drunkard, could be controlled.  She was going to do their will, not only because she had been a Marxist since college, perhaps before, but because she was entirely compromised.  They had the goods on her and her idiot cronies, and they knew it.  Despite their best efforts, they had nothing on Trump, and that scared the hell out of them. Why, he might insist on the rule of law! He might undo all the “progress” made by Barack Obama toward a socialist utopia.  True, Obama didn’t do nearly as much as he could and should have.  The progressive messiah was such an egomaniac, everything was always all about him, leaving little time or inclination to listen to others and to enact the permanent socialist state.  They were counting on Clinton to make up for lost time and opportunities, but that opportunity was in imminent danger of being lost.  Trump might set their plans back–who knew how long?—just when it was all within their grasp.

They had to get Trump.  They had to remove him from office.  They marshaled all their resources, including cooperative members of Congress from both parties, and the always more than cooperative media, and attacked Trump from all directions, 24/7/365.

Some suggest all this was merely due to personal animus. They didn’t like Trump, he fired their friend Comey, a certified agent of the Deep State first and the FBI a distant second.  It’s much deeper than that.  Oh indeed, they hated Trump for a great many reasons.  But far more was and is at stake.  So against DOJ rules, Rod Rosenstein–whose name, if there is any justice left in America, will forever live in infamy–appointed a special prosecutor, none other than Robert Mueller, Comey’s mentor and friend, and gave him carte blanche to get Trump, and to destroy any of the little people in his way.

Two years later, even the utterly corrupt, fake news media is treading softly on saying “collusion” and “Russia,” and it seems a foregone conclusion the special counsel will have to close up shop–perhaps sooner rather than later–having apparently found no evidence of illegal conduct by Mr. Trump.  Of course, they knew that all along.  The only issue is how to shut things down without looking like total incompetents and criminals, in a way that will have the greatest chance of keeping the cover up in place, and damaging Trump and the deplorables that elected him as much as possible.  There are lots of congress critter/criminals and other felons in government—and in the previous administration–that desperately need that protection.

And then Andrew McCabe, in deep legal trouble, with ruinous legal bills, writes a book and admits to sedition, implicating a cesspool full of co-conspirators—and the Deep State septic system backs up all over the Beltway.

Robert Mueller

To those that have been paying attention, we are, today, where we were when this disgusting debacle was publically set in motion. Robert Mueller was given carte blanche to do as Lavrenty Beria once said: “show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.”  The only problem for the coup conspirators is America still retains—barely—enough of the rule of law to keep Stalinist tyranny—barely—out of fashion.

This was never about investigating crimes and upholding the rule of law.  This was personal; it was political; it was about punishing an upstart not a member of the self-imagined elite, who, despite his billions and incredible accomplishments, could never be accepted into that club; it was about showing the deplorables they couldn’t win, they could never win.  How dare they vote for the wrong person!  How dare they impede the inevitable march of socialist progress! They’re going to pay.

Most of all, it was about punishing any and everyone who got in the way of the creation of a permanent Democrat/socialist majority when they were so, so close—sooooo close they could taste it.  They know they’ll eventually establish their socialist utopia, and then they’ll have their way with the deplorables.  Then they’ll show them who is in charge.  Then they’ll take away their guns and their bearded sky god, and they’ll be made to worship the only power that counts: the state and its enlightened rulers.  Once they take away all the guns, the rest is easy, particularly when they control everything: medical care, education, food distribution, transportation, electric distribution, all of it.  You don’t agree with the righteous policies of the government?  No life saving surgery for you.  Grandma’s medicine costs too much?  Say goodbye to grandma.  You think you built that business?  You didn’t build that; it belongs to the people!

As Donald Trump, the locus of all evil in the world, began to govern, the elite were even more horrified.  He was out-Reaganing Reagan!  He was, at a previously unimaginable pace, undoing everything Obama accomplished, and much that socialism had accomplished for decades. He was upholding the Constitution, keeping his campaign promises, and even worse, insisting on the rule of law and equal justice for all—no multi-tiered justice system favoring the self-imagined elite!  He is even suggesting people ought to succeed or fail on their abilities and willingness to work!  People should be judged not by their political affiliations and membership in favored progressive victim tribes, but by the content of their character—madness!  A self-imagined elite can’t live under those sorts of rules.  That’s not social justice!

It is entirely possible Mueller will draw out his fraudulent investigation until October of 2020, the better to spring an October Surprise that might help derail a second Trump term—that is, of course, if the elite can’t somehow get rid of him before then.  Even if he ends soon, the leaks will be of a magnitude sufficient to sink an aircraft carrier.

But in the meantime, much hangs on the future actions of President Trump and his new Attorney General, William Barr.  If there is no evidence of a crime, law enforcement shuts up. There are no “buts.”  However, if Mueller wants to produce a report full of buts, and maybes, and ifs, and Barr insists of following the law and the rules of the DOJ, he’ll be accused of a cover up.  Mr. Trump and AG Barr will be accused of a cover up if anything short of Mr. Trump’s arrest and execution, followed by a very brief trial, happens.

This is truly a historic tipping point.  If everyone who, in any way, had anything to do with the coup attempt is not arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, giving them full due process socialists would deny others, much of the nation will lose complete faith in agencies of government specifically charged with upholding the Constitution and the law and protecting national security. As I argued in The Second Civil War:

Normal Americans are tolerant people.  They think so little of politicians, and the national government in particular, little surprises them.  As the Japanese in WWII discovered, they are slow to anger, but once aroused, their wrath is terrible.

Thomas Jefferson

In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson observed:

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Jefferson was a shrewd judge of human nature. Particularly where a complete overturning of our polity is involved, Americans will tend to put up with–suffer—the evils imposed by a tyrannical government, until it goes too far, until the oppression is insufferable.  As in 1776, the next few years will determine the survival ofour representative republic. The Question Benjamin Franklin posed—whether we can keep it—will be decided.  Jefferson was right.  Americans will put up with much, until their limits have been exceeded, and a Democrat party, whose politicians vying for the nomination of their party for president rushing to out-socialist each other, is pressing hard against those limits.

In The Second Civil War, Part 2, I wrote:

Accepting American constitutionalism is the only thing that can save us.  That’s the only compromise–giving up totalitarian designs–that matters. That’s why I fear it may already be too late.

Rod Rosenstein

Andrew McCabe, Rod Rosenstein, and their cabal of holier-then-thou traitors did not and do not honor their oaths of office.  They have abandoned American constitutionalism, and sought cabinet officers equally willing to betray the Constitution and America.  They have betrayed the ideals for which countless Americans have fought and died, “that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

They would gladly kill it because they know better than the people, who dare think themselves the masters of the bureaucrats they hire.  They would have us believe they are smarter, more moral, more fit than we to rule ourselves, to make decisions for ourselves.  They simply don’t trust us with lawfully conducted elections.  As with the Obamas, we terribly disappoint them.

If we fail, if we do not convincingly show them, and any like them, who actually rules this nation, that the rule of law prevails, that American constitutionalism is the essential element of liberty, the sacrifices of those who gave their last full measure of devotion will have been in vain, and the future of the American experiment is in grave doubt.

And be sure, gentle readers, to read this essay by the invaluable Victor Davis Hanson.
