Let us pretend, gentle readers, you are experienced police officers.  On January 29, 1019, in the early morning hours, you are sent to the home of a gay, black actor who claims he was beaten by two white Trump MAGA thugs who called him an “Empire nigger” and an “Empire faggot,” splashed him with bleach, and put a noose around his neck.  When he answers the door, he appears upset, but is still wearing the noose.

This, fellow officers, is the primary definition in the police dictionary of “suspicious.”  You soon learn he decided, at 0200, on a sub-zero, nasty winter night, to head to the local Subway to grab a sandwich–in downtown Chicago, which is not at all Trump supporter country.  Suspicious X 2.

You discover a friend of his reported the incident some 40 minutes after it happened, and he wore the noose around for an hour or more until you arrived to see it.  He also brought the sandwich home.  Suspicious X 10.

He claims both white attackers wore red MAGA hats.  Suspicious X 20.

He shows no sign of the  brutal beating he described. Suspicious X 30.

The “victim” takes you to the scene of the “crime,” points out a video camera, and tells you he’s so glad the attack was on video.  The camera was pointing the wrong way, and why would someone so horribly racially traumatized know where an obscure camera just happened to be in the area? Suspicious X 40.

The media goes berserk, and leftist politicians pump it for all it’s worth:

All of this, and your cop sense, tells you this is just another garden variety racialist hoax, and your Sgt. and Lt. and Captain think so too, but it has to be entirely run down as though it were the real thing, so it’s assigned to detectives in the morning.

The detectives quickly review all video surveillance footage and find no evidence of the attack. Suspicious X 50.  They quickly zero in on two Nigerian brothers, one of who was once an extra on the “victim’s TV show–Empire–and both of whom left for Nigeria immediately after the “attack.”  Suspicious X 60.

They quickly discover via the FBI that Smollet had, a short time before the “attack,” been sent a letter with the return address of “MAGA, featuring a crude drawing of a stick figure hanging from a tree with a gun pointed at it, and cut and pasted text from magazines–1970’s crime movie style–saying: “Smollett Jussie you will die black fag.”  Suspicious X 70.

When the Nigerians brothers return a short time later, the detectives scoop them up and search their home, finding bleach, magazines with removed pages, and a receipt from a local hardware store for rope just like that found around the “victim’s” neck.  The victim, who initially was all for prosecuting the hate criminals that attacked him, decides he’d rather not.  Suspicious X 80.

The detectives want to speak with the “victim” again.  His attorneys–suspicious X 90–say he has every intention of continuing to cooperate with the police, but he’s not available just yet, to do that.

And better yet, the Nigerians roll over on the “victim,” admitting he paid them for their performance and they even rehearsed it.  Suspicious X 100.

The suspicious needle is pegged and has broken.  How about it fellow police officers: real thing or particularly stupid hoax?  Yeah, I think so too.

I’m sure by now, gentle readers, you recognize this as the plight of one Jussie Smollett, an actor on the TV series Empire, the story of a hip hop entertainment company airing on Fox.  There has been some conjecture Smollett staged the “attack” because he is being written out of the TV series, but Fox–what’s a racist, white supremacist network like Fox doing producing a black show?—has, thus far, denied this.  This did not stop the usual suspects, like Maxine Waters, from blaming the source of all evil in the world:

REP. MAXINE WATERS (D-CA): I know Jussie. I love him. His family’s a friend of mine. I know his sisters, I know his mom, and I called already to Jazz, one of the sisters, to talk to her about what’s happening, about what’s going on…

I’m pleased that he’s doing okay. But we have to understand this is happening for a reason. Why all of a sudden do we have people unable to study while black, unable to mow a lawn while black, unable to have picnic while black, and being attacked?

It’s coming from the president of the United States. He’s dog whistling every day. He’s separating and dividing, and he’s basically emboldening those folks who feel this way.

As this is written, Smollett–and his racialist supporters–is claiming any suggestion he lied is just additional evidence of the anti-LGBQWERTY, racist hate washing over America like a huge, white racist, supremacist tidal wave of white racist, anti-LGBQWERTY hate because Trump.  To be entirely fair, some of his supporters, including Corey Booker, are now, as stealthily as possible, backing away from their support, saying little or nothing, and deleting previous indignant  tweets.

Play into our–your–weaknesses like blindly lapping up whatever someone says, no matter how improbable, because they’re black?  Gay?  Because it supports non-falsifiable progressive narratives?  Because it can be blamed, however implausibly, on President Trump and anyone that might support him?  Those weaknesses, Ms. Milano?

Various leftist organizations, including the media, have long cried that hate crimes have been on the rise since Donald Trump took office, but after such events make an enormous splash in the media, one never hears about them again.  Why?  Because they’re almost entirely proved to be hoaxes. Consider this from the invaluable Heather MacDonald:

Even the Chicago Police Department was reluctant to express any skepticism toward the Smollett narrative until it had overwhelming evidence of the hoax, since to question the ubiquity of racism today is to invite accusations of racism. Yet the CPD, along with their law enforcement brethren, are surely aware of what the data say regarding hate crimes. In 2017, the FBI reported an additional 1,000 hate crimes from 2016, for a total of 7,000. But an additional 1,000 police agencies participated in hate-crime reporting in 2017, as Reason’s Robby Soave has pointed out, so it’s not clear that that increase is real or simply a result of more reporting. Even if real, 7,000 “hate crimes” in a country this large is an infinitesimal number. And the definition of a hate crime is highly political: very little black-on-white street crime gets classified as such, though hatred for whites undoubtedly drives a considerable fraction of this activity. (Between 2012 and 2015, blacks committed more than 85 percent of interracial violent victimizations between blacks and whites.)

When the hoaxers are caught, if they confess, they are almost always minorities–usually black–who did it to “raise awareness,” as I noted in Hate Crimes; Sneaky Normals in November of 2018.  Legal Insurrection provides links to a great many contemporary hoaxes worth examining.  Awareness of? Why, racist, supremacist white, MAGA, Trump-supporting haters, of course! In that article I spoke of a noose supposedly found on a college campus:

It turned out to be a shoelace someone lost. A student helpfully hung it on a dorm doorknob in the hope whoever lost it would find it.

When an actual Leftist hoaxer is discovered, they invariably explain they did it because that’s what normal Americans, haters all, really think and want to do; they just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Besides, it’s important to raise awareness about all the hate crimes that aren’t actually happening, but should, if the narrative is correct, and as we all know, leftist narratives can’t possibly be wrong.

Consider this as well:

I concluded my article with this:

As to the narrative of normal American hate, I’m sure this incident merely illustrates how white male dominated, normal society forces oppressed peoples like Mr. Polite to do the things all woke people know normals really want to do, though they don’t seem to get around to it terribly often. Perhaps white privilege makes them too lazy to act out their raging, obsessive hatreds?  So by their mere existence, they’re obviously forcing morally superior Leftists to do it for them.  Those normals are sneaky that way.

Yet another example of racialist crimes that lazy white, supremacist, MAGA Trump normals just won’t do, is here.

Just another example of the woke creating the kind of racism they just know President Trump is inspiring, if only there were actual white supremacists to be sufficiently inspired to do it.  I was about to write that considering that virtually all of these incidents are hoaxes, it’s amazing that anyone would take them on face value without conclusive proof. But of course, no it’s not.

The problem isn’t President Trump or some enormous cabal of white supremacists, the problem is leftists who need to keep themselves and everyone else in a perpetual state of outrage, even if there is nothing about which to be outraged.

One is tempted to say this sort of thing makes it much more difficult to believe actual victims of crime, but that’s not true.  No matter how many obvious racist hoaxes are spun up, the media will gladly report them as fact because they support a number of the media’s favorite socialist narratives. In this case a black victim who also happens to be gay.  Too good to check. Expect to find more of them as the 2020 election nears.  Expect eery hoax to be blamed on President Trump, and when they’re exposed as hoaxes, expect the media to ignore the facts and still blame Trump because Trump.

As you know, fellow police officers, your duty is to investigate every crime as the real thing until you can prove otherwise.  You know such things. rare as they are, can happen, so you continue to go to the homes of victims of hate crimes and watch them remove the nooses they’ve been wearing for an hour or so from their necks, and you write your reports and turn it over to the detectives who will do their jobs too.

I suppose it would be easier if there really were legions of white supremacist racists.  We–the police–would know all the usual suspects, and we wouldn’t have to waste time chasing phantoms.  But that’s what we’re paid to do, and if people like the media and Jussie Smollett want us to spend our time doing that, well, it all pays the same.

We’ll still respond to calls and listen politely when Smollett, Waters, the media and other racialists call us racist because we believe the evidence and facts instead of blindly supporting social justice narratives.  It’s hard being anti-LGBQWERTY, white supremacist, MAGA, Trump, racists these days.  It’s even harder finding real ones.

If you’re not reading the Babylon Bee, this parody on the Smollett hoax, demonstrates why you should.
