Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez–the new leftist “It” girl–is the avowed socialist Congresswoman-elect (D-NY). In a recent interview, pushing single payer health care, she was asked how we, the brokest nation in the history of broke nations, could possibly afford it. “You just pay for it,” she sagely replied.
People often say, like, how are you going to pay for it and I find the question so puzzling because ‘How do you pay for something that’s more affordable? How do you pay for cheaper rent?’ You just pay for it,’ she said. ‘We’re paying more now.
Uh, not quite:
According to recent studies, the program, first introduced by Sanders over the summer, would increase government health spending by $32.6 trillion over 10 years.
How does one properly honor such a monumental intellect? Barack Obama was awarded a Nobel Peace prize for being Barack Obama, and was festooned with halos, reflecting his god-like status, a status about which he frequently reminded us, when he–or Michelle–weren’t telling us what a terrible disappointment we were to them.
But because Ocasio-Cortez identifies–for the time being–as female–in this brave new world, we can be whatever we choose whenever we choose!–she will be honored for her unique pre-accomplishments with a museum display of her–trigger warning!–shoes. Fox News reports:
The New York congresswoman-elect’s first pair of campaign trail shoes are being loaned out to the Cornell Costume Collection exhibit for those who want to witness what ‘hard work’ looks like.
The exhibit – titled ‘WOMEN EMPOWERED: Fashions from the Frontline,’ is set to debut on December 6 and summonses women to share special articles of clothing that have empowered them in the past. Other featured items include the inaugural suit worn by Texas governor Ann Richards and collars from Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg among many other pieces of history.
Hmmm. Given the examples, would any of these monumentally hard working women happen to be conservatives–normal Americans? Apparently not.
The Collection thanked Ocasio-Cortez Wednesday in a social media post and commended her on ‘determination and dedication.
Wow. One can only imagine the blistering hard work necessary for a socialist to win a congressional seat in New York City! It’s a one-in-a-million accomplishment!
We can’t think of a better example of fashion from the frontline: U.S. Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York’s 14th district has loaned us her first pair of campaigning shoes,’ the Collection wrote on Instagram.
‘These shoes represent the hard work, dedication, determination, and commitment of the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.
We are seeing, gentle readers, the canonization of future holy relics. That an unsavory foot fetish might be involved is of no moment. The halo is old news. But a halo was easy to do, and fit into any background. One momentous question remains? How to add shoes into innumerable photos of Ocasio-Cortez in a way that will depict her as divine?
As a public service, I provide, courtesy of wikifeet.com–yes, there is such a thing–the feet of our new divinity. I leave it to those so inclined to judge their–ahem–savor.

How do you afford an apartment in Washington, D.C?
You just pay for it!

Maybe Bernie could loan one of his homes. Some people do so well with socialism.

Sorry but I have to urge more caution and impulse control. She’s the real deal, has had more accomplishments in her few years (she’s 29, the youngest ever to be elected to Congress) than you or me. And she won against an opponent who was more experienced and spent $3.4 million on his campaign. She’s very, very smart and capable, it’s just easier to give in to impulse and mock her for trivial things like political points about worn out shoes. She spent less than $200,000 on her campaign so the work ethic isn’t something anyone can laugh at.
I seriously advise you to stick to her specific beliefs and ambitions regarding who she will “save us.” If she had run as a Republican then we’d see the contrasting reactions here. The Democrats are better at getting smart, young people to run for office. The Republicans (we hope) WISH they could do as well.
Take Ocasio-Cortez and Salwell seriously or you (and we) will regret it.

1706to1790,
I disagree with many of the qualities you ascribe to this girl. First, your facts are wrong. She is not the youngest person elected to Congress. Not even among the youngest 50.
She did not spend only $200,000 on her campaign. She spent over $1.25 million.
While she graduated cum laude with a BA in economics, she has demonstrated a complete and total ignorance when it comes to economics. She was able to get a job as a bartender following graduation where making change is no longer a requirement.
Miss Cortez, I suspect, was able to primary Joe Crowley, by appealing to other low information voters and inspired less than 16,000 of them to vote for her. I say low info voters because they either did not know her positions or were just too uninformed to know that they are not practical. Winning the primary, her election was all but assured, simply because she wasn’t a Republican and was competing in a very liberal district.
She is attractive and young. She also lacks the life and business experiences that would be useful for any representative. She has opinions but due to all of the attention she has garnered from the media, she has not yet realized that she is insignificant within Congress, representing a very small dot on the map. She does have outsized attention from the media so when she says something stupid, it will get plenty of attention.

1706 and Allyn both have good points. For my part, while I believe the woman in question is eminently mockworthy and should be ridiculed at every opportunity, it should be kept in mind that she figured out how to topple an incumbent, and should not be underestimated regarding her potential to topple other things.

I’d also point out that Mike’s post is not so much about her as it is about the sycophancy that surrounds her and her ilk.

Dear tel:
Indeed. The most effective satire for people like her is merely reporting what she–and those that worship her–are doing and saying.

Which only makes her more dangerous.
I’m done now, lol.

She’s actually kinda cute. However, I can’t help but think of this when looking at her: https://i.redd.it/zlbsntyda9k11.jpg

I am reminded of the scene in the movie CALIGULA where the Emperor decrees that prolifigate spending of the Senate should be paid for by opening brothels staffed by the wives of the Senators because the Senators wives were the most lascivious sluts in Rome.

Nowadays, the Senators themselves could be on staff.
Heck, maybe back then as well. It was, after all, ancient Rome.

You obviously saw the scene where Caligula asserts his dominance over his general at the wedding.
