And now it’s time, as Monty Python was fond of saying, for something completely different. As part of my duty as a member of the Watcher’s council, I post, each Friday, the results of the week’s voting. In the number one spot this week is a familiar, if dubious, blog. By the way, much of the text for these posts is a cut and paste matter for me. Every member of the council posts the same materials. I trust you’ll be able to tell when I’m speaking, so to speak.
The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast, and the results are in for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up.
““The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.” Jeff Cooper, Art Of The Rifle
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.” Thomas Jefferson in a letter to James Madison
“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”
William Pitt the Younger, Speech in the House of Commons, November 18, 1783
This week’s winning essay is Stately McDaniel Manor’s Schools and Concealed Carry: Overregulation and Micromanagement.
It is a characteristic of bureaucracy that even in pursuit of common sense, desirable goals they almost always manage to gum up the works! Mike McDaniel’s excellent piece does a fine job of showing how that can work.
NOTE: I’ve excised the excerpt. It seems a bit odd to repost an article you can find on this site merely by scrolling, or taking the link.
In our non-Council category, the winner was Pajamas Media What No One Seems to Know About Ted Cruz’s Past submitted by: Fausta’s Blog. It deals with Ted Cruz’s positive record while the director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Office of Policy Planning.

See you next week!
Make sure to tune in every Monday for the Watcher’s Forum, and Tuesday, when we reveal the weeks’ nominees for Weasel of the Week
And remember, every Wednesday the Council has its weekly contest with members nominating two posts each: one written by themselves and one written by someone from outside the group for consideration by the whole Council. The votes are cast by the Council, and the results are posted on Friday.
It’s a weekly magazine of some of the best stuff written in the blogosphere, and you won’t want to miss it, or any of the other fantabulous Watcher’s Council content.
And we begin again next week. See you then, gentle readers!
