There’s an old aphorism:
Be careful what you ask for; you might get it.
Anti-liberty types are constantly arguing that if only they could get rid of all the guns possessed by the lunatics in flyover country, the miracles they could work would be unimaginable.
Actually, I can imagine such “miracles” quite well.
Even if the law-abiding could be dispossessed of their firearms, criminals surely would not, and long before the invention of gunpowder, we managed to slaughter each other with great efficiency and in great numbers, even though we had no idea of modern metallurgy.
