Why can’t we compromise on gun control? Why won’t those gun nuts agree to commonsense gun control measures? Why can’t we have a dialogue about the issues?
Weeeeelll–perhaps it’s because of people like Luke O’Neil, progressive freelance writer for The Boston Globe and Slate whose sentiments are far from unusual among those that profess to want such “dialogue”:
Why can’t we “dialogue” with such people? Let’s start with because they have no idea what “good faith” is, nor could they look up the meaning of “compromise” with help. How, by the way, do we compromise on a fundamental, unalienable human right? What part of that, the very means to preserve life, do we surrender, and for what? What of comparable societal and personal value will people like O’Neil surrender in return?
