There has been a great deal of media coverage on the supposed pandemic of rape on college campuses (my most recent coverage of the issue is here). Those that have been paying attention know the narrative is hyperbolic at best, and a near complete lie at worst. But there is another angle involved: If one in five coeds really are being raped, don’t they, above virtually everyone else, need effective means of self-defense?
That, of course, would make sense, and it relies on such archaic principles as the rule of law. Those pushing the rape narrative don’t truck with such crude, flyover country nonsense, no. For such sophistocates, a stratospheric rape rate requires that potential victims be completely unarmed because diversity, equality, microaggression, racism, and GUNS! GUNS! GUNS!

Mike must have watched “Safe Haven” the Outdoor Channel documentary on “gun free zones” which features the story of the young woman college student who was raped in a parking structure 50 feet from the campus police headquarters. She was forbidden to carry her licensed concealed pistol on campus. Following that rape, the perpetrator went on to murder his next rape victim.

Actually, I didn’t see that documentary, but I’ve investigated similar situations, and of course, read of many. Evil is everywhere, and always waiting its chance.
Sorry for being 5 days late with a response. What I actually had in mind is simply to spread the word about this documentary (examining gun free zones from the perspective of 2nd Amendment advocates). This documentary will get lost amid the 100s of cable channel shows (etc). Just hoping Outdoor Channel opts to put it out one DVD.
If a lot of college students are “young, immature, and drink to excess,” it is not an argument for banning CCW on campus. It is an argument for raising college entrance requirements. Anyone who can’t behave like a responsible adult is not ready for college.
And it’s the usual leftist double standard. If a coed has an unwanted pregnancy and needs to have an abortion, then it’s OK, because she is presumed to be a competent adult, entitled to freedom of choice. If that same young woman wants to buy a weapon, suddenly she is a drunken idiot, who would just end up shooting some harmless panhandler after mistaking him for a rapist.
