Famous-presidential-wordsWho do we trust when everyone involved is a liar? Only yesterday Obama Administration spokesliar Josh Earnest actually claimed that Yemen remains a brilliant Obama success:

The measure of the US policy should not be graded against the success or the stability of the Yemeni government. That’s a separate enterprise. And the goal of US policy toward Yemen has never been to try to build a Jeffersonian democracy there. The goal of US policy in Yemen is to make sure that Yemen cannot be a safe haven that extremists can use to attack the West and to attack the United States, and that involves trying to build up the capacity of the government to help us in that fight. And there is no doubt that we would prefer a situation where there is a stable government, where there is a place where US personnel could operate inside of Yemen, could coordinate directly with Yemeni security forces to take the fight to these extremists. But the fact is that even though US personnel is no longer in Yemen, the united states continues to have the capacity and resources, and reach to be able to take strikes when necessary against extremists.

This is the Yemen that has been all but taken over by Iran backed Islamists. It’s the same Yemen from which even our special forces were forced to flee, after our embassy was abandoned. This is the Yemen where jihadists seized our vehicles, facilities and an air base after we fled. It’s the same Yemen where the Iranian backed “rebels” seized secret intelligence files we left behind. It’s the same Yemen the Saudis, Egyptians and other regionals powers are just about to invade to protect themselves. And it’s the same Yemen where the actual Yemeni president just fled to Saudi Arabia. Oh yes, how could anyone mistake that for anything but a brilliant, “smart diplomacy” success?

On one hand we have a President who refuses to tell even the Congress the details of the “deal” he is striking with Iran. He’ll have to make it before we can see what’s in it. Our President is a proven serial liar, a man who has no respect for the Constitution or any other law.

On the other hand, we have a Jihadist, apocalyptic death cult whose very religion tells it to lie to infidels in the furtherance of Jihad. It has also been caught lying and cheating on its obligations under UN resolutions while negotiating with us, has actually been in a declared war with us since 1979, and has a long history of deception and betrayal in everything it does. It bargains in “good faith” by continually chanting “death to America,” “death to Israel,” and by sinking a mockup of a US aircraft carrier and by continually supplying, financing and supporting jihadists that are killing Americans and our allies at this moment.

And then there is this indicator that our President, Secretary of State, and State Department–at the very least–may well be committing treason in the Iran affair, and I suspect, others:

An Iranian journalist described as ‘a close media aide; to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has sought political asylum in Switzerland while covering the nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers currently taking place in the European country, The Telegraph reported on Saturday. [skip]

Motaghi appeared on a London based Iranian opposition television station and said he no longer saw any ‘sense’ in his profession as a journalist as he could ‘only write what he was told,’ The Telegraph reported. [skip]

In his television interview, Mr Mottaghi also voiced support to critics of the proposed nuclear deal.

‘The US negotiating team are mainly there to speak on Iran’s behalf with other members of the 5+1 countries and convince them of a deal, ’the British daily reported him as saying.

Tragically, this will not be a surprise to anyone that has been paying attention. Consider the full horror of this revelation: a President of the United States is working on the side of an apocalyptic death cult that has been murdering Americans since 1979 to help them get nuclear weapons.

The only thing that may save us, temporarily, is that the Iranians may simply decide to humiliate Mr. Obama by refusing to make any deal. But if they do, what will happen the first time they refuse to allow inspections or are otherwise caught breaching that agreement, which will not take long? Actually, they’ve already done it. Will President Obama hold them to account, or is it a virtual certainty that Josh Earnest will shamelessly explain that utter failure is actually evidence of yet another brilliant Obama success?

Obama’s “smart diplomacy” successes don’t so much as rise to the level of Pyrrhic victories. We can’t afford even one.
