With “Smart Diplomacy” our primary method of interaction with our implacable enemies, I fear this iconic Saigon evacuation photo will become all too common in the very near future.

At least this time there has been an evacuation of some American personnel, this time from Yemen. In Benghazi, the Obama administration (with Hillary Clinton in charge at State) left US personnel in an inadequately-secured facility for months after all of the other Western nations and agencies had fled after declaring victory over Moammar Qaddafi and liberation in eastern Libya. As Tripoli fell to terror networks and militias in July 2014 after that glorious US-led “liberation,” the US had to conduct an emergency evac of its embassy personnel from Libya’s capital to prevent another Benghazi.

And now the US retreat has reached Sana’a, which Barack Obama and his team hailed as a foreign-policy and counterterrorism success just four months ago:

The United States has pulled more staff out of its embassy in Yemen, U.S. officials said on Thursday as Washington scrambled to cope with the collapse of a government that had been a key ally in the fight against al Qaeda.

The scaling down of its presence in Yemen is the first sign that the latest turmoil there will affect U.S operations in a country that President Barack Obama hailed just four months ago as a model for “successful” counter-terrorism partnerships.

The U.S. diplomatic contingent in Sanaa was drawn down due to the deteriorating security situation in the Yemeni capital, the officials said. They insisted there were no plans to close the embassy, which could been seen as erosion of U.S. resolve in counter-terrorism operations in the volatile Arab country.

There is, of course, nothing about which to worry. Mr. Obama told us, in his six State of the Union speech, that everything is just great, and it’s all due to him and his policies.

Readers are, I’m sure, aware of the temper tantrum of the White House over the impending March speech of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the Congress. Netanyahu was invited to address Congress by Speaker Of The House John Boehner, and unsurprisingly, Mr. Obama and his staff lost it, making threats, refusing to meet with Mr. Netanyahu when he is in Washington, and behaving like petulant children in general. Waaaah! Boehner and Netanyahu were mean to us! They didn’t ask our permission first! Waaaah!

I’m not going to waste much digital ink on this situation. Protocol is not a matter of law. It’s not in the Constitution. It is, at best, custom and courtesy. Barack Obama is the last man on the planet with a valid claim on protocol, having not only repeatedly violated the Constitution regarding the separation of powers, but having foisted innumerable insults, slights, and petty pranks on the Congress and Mr. Netanyahu and Israel.

The Congress can invite anyone it likes to speak. It has long been obvious that Mr. Obama hates Mr. Netanyahu and is not mature enough to keep that hatred from negatively affecting America’s relationship with Israel. Simultaneously, he is treating Iran like an ally and is going to allow the foremost state sponsor of terrorism on the planet to obtain nuclear weapons. The only hope Israel has is for the Congress to grow sufficient backbone to actually use the power it has to force Obama to act like an American President.

Mr. Netanyahu surely understands that whatever diplomatic damage might be done by angering Barack Obama is as nothing compared to the damage a nuclear armed Iran will do to Israel. Mr. Obama is having a snit fit? The Iranians promise to obliterate Israel every day, and when they have they means, they’ll use them. Mr. Obama won’t even admit Islam has anything to do with terrorism.

I never thought I’d see the day an American President embraced and defended a terrorist regime dedicated to world domination and the destruction of America and her allies.

If you’re interested, go here to see why Ron Radosh thinks Mr. Netanyahu shouldn’t speak before Congress, and here to see why Mark Theissen thinks he should.

HE WHAT!!!!????

Barack Obama has dispatched American officials to Israel. Finally! Mr. Obama is going to assist our ally! Not quite. From Powerline:

There is only one world leader whom Barack Obama despises: Benjamin Netanyahu. And now, Obama is putting his campaign organization where his mouth is. Susan Goldberg at PJ Media picks up on a previously untranslated story from Israel’s left-wing newspaper, Haaretz:

A summary of the article is provided by IMRA (Independent Media Review & Analysis):

Haaretz reporter Roi Arad revealed in an article in the Hebrew edition today [January 26] that the foreign funded organization, ‘One Voice’, is bankrolling the V-2015 campaign to defeat Binyamin Netanyahu’s national camp in the March 2015 Knesset Elections.

One indication of the generous financing is that it has now flown in a team of five American campaign experts (including Jeremy Bird, the Obama campaign’s national field director) who will run the campaign out of offices taking up the ground floor of a Tel Aviv office building.

V-2015 is careful not to support a specific party – rather ‘just not Bibi’. As such, the foreign funds pouring into the campaign are not subject to Israel’s campaign finance laws.

“One Voice” is foreign-funded. I wonder if Iran is providing some of that funding? Would you be surprised, gentle readers?

Update:  Well, it’s worse than I thought.  According to Powerline, One Voice is, in part, funded by our own Department of State!  Read the whole thing.  No wonder Mr. Obama’s is so upset that Mr. Netanyahu is coming to America to speak to the Congress; he’s trying to get him kicked out of office.

From Newsmax.com:

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has been charged with desertion, but the White House is trying to keep the story under wraps, a retired Army officer said Monday on Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor.”

An Army report on Bergdhal was finished in October, but has yet to be released. White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes is trying to keep the information from becoming public because it would embarrass President Barack Obama, said Lt. Col. Tony Schaffer. [skip]

‘This has been done. The decision has been made,’ Schaffer said. ‘Let me be very clear. As a corporate entity, the Army has decided that they want to pursue Bergdahl for this violation.’

But, Schaffer said, the White House is attempting to keep the information from being made public because it would embarrass Obama, who brought Bergdahl’s parents to the White House for a Rose Garden announcement of the release.

‘This is shaping up to be titanic struggle behind the scenes,’ Shaffer said. ‘The Army here wants to do the right thing.

Since that story broke, the Pentagon has categorically denied that any charging decision has been made and stated there is “no timeline” for such a decision. I suspect a decision will be made on this about the time Mr. Obama authorizes the Keystone Pipeline. Expect a presidential pardon for Bergdhal, one of potentially hundreds, during Mr. Obama’s final days and hours in office.

From the AP, dateline, Tehran, Iran:

Iran’s official IRNA news agency is reporting the country has sent a warning to Israel through the United States over the recent killing of an Iranian general in an alleged Israeli airstrike.

The Tuesday report quotes Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian as saying, ‘We told the Americans that the leaders of the Zionist regime should await the consequences of their act.’

He added, ‘The Zionist regime has crossed our red lines.’

Iranian Gen. Mohammad Ali Allahdadi was killed along with six Lebanese Hezbollah fighters in a Jan. 18 airstrike in the Syrian-controlled part of the disputed Golan Heights.

Both Iran and Hezbollah blamed Israel for the strike; the Israeli government refused to comment.

How dare those evil Jews kill the general and assorted terrorists plotting their destruction! And isn’t it nice Iran has trained Mr. Obama so well that he’s now delivering their death threats to Israel for them? Smart diplomacy, gentle readers, smart diplomacy.

Legal Insurrection reports:

On Martin Luther King Day, a group of anti-Israel “protestors” blocked four lanes of traffic on California’s San Mateo Bridge:

At one point, protesters had blocked both sides of Highwy 92. The sudden blockade caused accidents and injuries. This was the first time protesters shut down the San Mateo Bridge, the longest bridge in the state. The district attorney says demonstrating on the nine-mile bridge is dangerous because there are no exits or turn around lanes.

‘This particular protest caused several collisions involving property damage and minor injuries, as well as some hit-and-run crashes,’ California Highway Patrol spokesman Daniel Hill said.

Sixty-eight protesters were arrested and charged with creating a public nuisance and obstructing people’s right to travel. The accidents and injuries could now mean harsher penalties than just misdemeanors.

‘That makes it more serious that there’s been harm,’ San Mateo District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said. ‘Restitution ought to be paid and so you look to see what the harm is as with any action.

Now the idiots that endangered lives are whining their rights were violated when they were arrested because they weren’t given a warning to disperse. Oh yes, and “female demonstrators were patted down by male officers contrary to the wishes of the demonstrators.”

Well, if anything was done contrary to the demonstrator’s wishes, of course it’s improper. After all, they were protesting against Joooooos! That means anything goes.

Legal Insurrection reports on the most recent, and bizarre, security breach:

There was a security scare at the White House early Monday when a two-foot quadcopter drone was found in the middle of the night on the executive mansion’s grounds.

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating, White House spokesman John Earnest said, but the aircraft did not pose a threat to the building. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were on a three-day visit to India, but their daughters, Sasha and Malia, were at the White House.

An unnamed law enforcement official told NBC News the drone landed in a tree just after 3 a.m. Monday on the southeast side of the complex.

‘An investigation is underway to determine the origin of this commercially available device, motive, and to identify suspects,’ said Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary.

The White House is saying that the drone pilot, a “government employee,” turned himself in a short time after the drone was found, and supposedly had no intention of flying it near the White House.

Right. The kind of drone involved is a very short range, short endurance machine: battery powered with a flight time of minutes, not hours. Such devices are normally line-of sight: the pilot has to be within visual range of the drone. And even if this were not so, it would be necessary to be within a block or so of the drone and its camera(s) would surely be transmitting video of one of the most recognizable buildings on the planet. There is no way–none whatever–this was an unintentional accident.

Consider the security breaches we know about: how many are being concealed by the most transparent administration in history?

Only under Barack Obama could an aborted attempt to raise taxes on the middle class be called a “middle class tax cut.” Fox News reports:

President Obama has dropped his plan to end tax breaks for popular college savings accounts known as 529s, sources told Fox News on Tuesday.

The decision comes in the wake of stern criticism from Republicans and pleas from top Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, to drop the plan.

The 529s, which allow college savings to grow tax-free, mostly are used by upper-middle- and middle-class families. Low-income families typically don’t have thousands of dollars saved up for college, while very wealthy families are more likely to have trust funds in place for their children’s education.

Administration officials had claimed last week that they were going after the 529 accounts because they unfairly benefit high-income people. Under the proposed change, Americans eventually would have had to pay taxes on the earnings when they were withdrawn.

A White House official told Fox News late Tuesday afternoon that the 529 provision was a ‘very small component’ of Obama’s plan to cut taxes for the middle class.

Yes, deflated footballs. I’m sure you’re aware of the deflated football scandal,  gentle readers. Let us put aside, for the moment, the fact that any supposedly underinflated footballs would be handled by both teams, nullifying any potential advantage a given quarterback might enjoy with a ball one pound or so underinflated. What almost surely happened is that the balls were properly inflated, and due to a substantial temperature variation between the beginning of the game and halftime when they were checked, the cold caused the pressure to drop to the level measured. No intentional cheating: physics.

But hey, this isn’t something trivial like the President of the United States siding with our enemies against our allies and allowing them to obtain nuclear weapons that they will use against us. Noooooo! This is reeeeeeally important. This is football!

“Is Obamacare about controlling out lives?” reads the headline of an article by Theresa Brown, RN.

My answer: yes. Next question?

Brown, however, writes:

As a nurse, I’ve always supported the ACA as a way for more Americans to get needed health care. But many people, including many nurses, view Obamacare as a government intrusion into individual lives. I can see their point of view, but I believe it’s mistaken. The ACA does not allow government to interfere in our lives; it compels government to keep us as safe and healthy as possible.

Barack Obama loves me! He really loves me!

Take the link and experience scary delusion and faulty logic.

You can always count on the New York Times to race hustle.  From the Washington Examiner:

A Yale campus police officer who detained the son of black New York Times columnist Charles Blow is also black, according to a campus-wide email sent out by Yale officials.

On Saturday, Blow wrote on Twitter that he was ‘fuming’ over a call he received from his son, a third-year student at Yale. He wrote that his son was ‘accosted’ and held up at gunpoint by a Yale policeman because he fit the description of a suspect. Blow’s son, Tahj Blow, is an ecology and evolutionary biology major, according to the Yale Daily News.

In followup tweets related to the incident, Blow said, ‘This is exactly why I have no patience for people trying to convince me that the fear these young black men feel isn’t real.’ He also tweeted the phrases

‘I can’t breathe’ and ‘Black lives matter,’ both of which are associated with two unarmed black men killed by white police officers in separate incidents in Missouri and New York.

Blow published a Times column on Monday with his thoughts on the matter. ‘I am reminded,’ he wrote, ‘of what I have always known, but what some would choose to deny: that there is no way to work your way out — earn your way out — of this sort of crisis. In these moments, what you’ve done matters less than how you look.’

The race of the officer who detained Blow’s son is not mentioned in Blow’s column.

Imagine that. Blow’s son was briefly detained, not harmed in the least, and went on his merry way. Yale officials, including the black chief of police, explained that Blow‘s son matched the description of a suspect of a “crime in progress” in that area. So of course it was racism because Blow’s son is black and there is no reason for the police to have any contact with a black person but racism.
