I must admit to a certain fondness for vulvas, vaginas, the whole thing. But oh dear, have certain feminists gone over the cliffs of sanity and plunged into the seas of yeast infections on the topic, praising vaginas to the heavens and beyond. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and Elizabeth Scalia, The Anchoress, has written a delightful piece called Twilight of the Vaginas. An excerpt:

For the past 20 years or so, women have been gushing over their vaginas and waving their vaginas around as though they were unique to humanity; they’ve been oh-so-daring and counter-cultural, really putting it to the man by shoving their vaginas in everyone’s faces, taking their vaginas out for spa days, carrying them around in public conversations as though they were a trendy pet (or as Eve Ensler might have said, “my vagina is an chihuahua that growls at strangers and runs to the door to greet my gender-unstipulated friends! I dress my chihuahau-vagina up like Princess Leia for Halloween! I put tiny poppin’ fresh cinnamon rolls on each side of my labia…).

Vaginas have not only become a big business, for the matriarchy the vagina and its attendant parts have served as totems for feminism, and since ladies are good at crafts, you need only slip a few words into a search engine to find vagina earrings, vagina megaphones (echo…echo…); vagina soaps; knitted vaginas that cover tissue boxes, crocheted catnip vagina toys for their…kittykats.

And then finally — finally! — a woman brought vagina-crafting to its zenith — or its nadir — and started knitting out of her vagina, over the course of a full 28 days, to insure the inclusion of every bit of her vaginal goodness.

What a glorious day that was! Once women were able to deliver something really creative out of their vaginas — like a stained 12-foot scarf, instead of some boring, unspecial thing like an infant the world doesn’t really need — the full emancipation of all vaginas had finally come. Capable of coaxing what is not life from vaginas, they have achieved godhead. Nothing more need be done.

On the 8th day, the godling spewed forth a fine Peruvian Alpaca-Merino Wool Blend scarf rendered in a basic Stockinette stitch, and all was right with the world. And after clearing out a hairball, the vagina said, ‘cough…cough…ew…let there be no more of this crap; it’s very dehydrating.

You must read the whole thing.

The execrable Michael Moore tweeted that snipers are cowards, then tried to walk back his clear implication, claiming he wasn’t talking about American Sniper. Right.

Screen Shot 2015-01-19 at 12.02.09 PM

So, Mr. Moore, a few words on cowardice. Snipers are among the most highly trained soldiers in our military. This is necessary because they must, often with only the cover of a spotter, go into the very midst of the enemy, and do so undetected. If Americans are expected to engage in only a “fair fight” in war, our leaders are negligent and are unnecessarily wasting lives. When we fight, we must do it from a position of overwhelming strength. We must kill the enemy in every way possible before he has a chance to do it to us. We must do it so violently and so completely anyone thinking of attacking us will believe it suicide. Refraining from shooting a vicious, blood thirsty enemy in the back, bottom, side or top reflects an idiotic Hollywood view of war, and will allow our enemies to live to kill another day while costing American lives.

Snipers save far more American and allied lives than they take and cowardice has nothing whatever to do with it. Oh yes, and the issue is not shooting, but why one shoots. Our snipers do it to save lives and preserve freedom.

Now the abominable Al Sharpton has extended his race hustling to the Academy Awards. Consider this from Hot Air:

The lack of diversity in today’s Oscar nominations is appalling and while it is good that Selma was nominated for ‘Best Picture,’ it’s ironic that they nominated a story about the racial shutout around voting while there is a racial shutout around the Oscar nominations. With all of the talent in Selma and other Black movies this year, it is hard to believe that we have less diversity in the nominations today than in recent history. National Action Network (NAN) has formed a task force on the movie industry to deal with diversity as I engage in dialogue with Sony Pictures Co-Chairman Amy Pascal. The movie industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets. I have called an emergency meeting early next week in Hollywood with the task force to discuss possible action around the Academy Awards.

An “emergency meeting?” Really? What’s the emergency? Where is the threat to life or limb? If anyone in Hollywood falls for this, they may as well just establish automatic extortion payments for every future production should Sharpton whine. Pathetic. Perhaps Selma wasn’t nominated to Sharpton’s satisfaction because other movies were better? That’s still possible in American in 2015, isn’t it?

From Hot Air:

We were recently informed by the blaring of progressive trumpets and flapping of angelic wings that evil energy users had set a new record, with 2014 being the warmest year in recorded history. The end is clearly near, so you should all begin getting your affairs in order unless President Obama can rail through his new methane regulations. It is, as Mother Jones described it, a moment of truth. Well folks, what can I say? We had a good run.

But wait! The phrase “moment of truth” ends with a rather important word. How “true” is this claim? The folks at NASA who declared the doomsday scenario have rather sheepishly admitted that under further scrutiny, they’re at least 38% sure it might have been true.

The Nasa climate scientists who claimed 2014 set a new record for global warmth last night admitted they were only 38 per cent sure this was true…

Oh well. NASA has been so busy helping Muslims feel good about the scientific accomplishments of their ancient ancestors, they obviously don’t have time for any real science. And why is NASA involved in climate studies again?

Remember Ferguson? Michael Brown? In the normal flow of life that case has faded from the headlines, largely because most people understand Brown was a drugged, petty thug who died in the commission of multiple felonies, including assault on a police officer. But the opportunity to do something really stupid knows no boundaries, and Brown was the best excuse that came along for some time, and some people aren’t going to let it go:

If you were upset about tensions between community members and police officers across racial lines, what would be the first avenue to address these issues that came to mind? Obviously you would unload a bunch of heavy barrels, chain yourself to them and block traffic on the interstate.

Protesters who said they were trying to call attention to racial oppression blocked traffic on Interstate 93 north and south of Boston Thursday morning. The actions surprised police, snarled the commute for thousands, and forced the diversion of an ambulance rushing a car crash victim to a Boston hospital, State Police said.

Yeah. Endangering innocent lives. That’ll really inspire sympathy.

Anyone that has been paying attention since before 9-11, particularly if they have bothered to read the Koran and Hadiths, understand exactly why Islamists seek to kill infidels, destroy Israel and America. Not so one Jurgen Todenhofer, a German reporter that “embedded” with ISIS:

Todenhofer lived side by side with the jihadist fighters for ten days in the Islamic State-stronghold city of Mosul, Iraq. He was accompanied only by his son, who served as his cameraman.

‘I always asked them about the value of mercy in Islam,’ but ‘I didn’t see any mercy in their behavior,’ explained Todenhofer. He added, ‘Something that I don’t understand at all is the enthusiasm in their plan of religious cleansing, planning to kill the non-believers… They also will kill Muslim democrats because they believe that non-ISIL-Muslims put the laws of human beings above the commandments of God.’

The German reporter then elaborated on how shocked he was about how ‘willing to kill’ the ISIS fighters are. He said that they were ready to commit genocide. ‘They were talking about [killing] hundreds of millions. They were enthusiastic about it, and I just cannot understand that,’ said Todenhofer.

He warned that the Islamic State ‘is much stronger than we think,’ and that their recruiting has brought motivated jihadis from across the globe. ‘Each day, hundreds of new enthusiastic fighters are arriving,’ explained Todenhofer. ‘There is an incredible enthusiasm that I have never seen in any other war zones I have been to.

Hmm. Let’s see…they plan to murder hundreds of millions, they’re very enthusiastic, and hundreds join them every day. Doesn’t sound like the JV squad to me… In any case, Todenhofer joins Mr. Obama in cluelessness.

Yeah. And if you want to keep your insurance and your doctor, you can do that too. Period. Helping the middle class is one of Mr. Obama’s themes of his State of the Union self-referential speech this year, but like everything emanating from his lips, that’s not quite true. He’s going to help the middle class by raising its taxes, as Forbes explains:

One tax hike in particular was very odd, since it’s aimed almost exclusively at middle class families with kids–the exact demographic the goodies in the tax plan is targeting.

The levy in question would increase taxes on college savings accounts known as ‘529 plans’ (after their section in the Internal Revenue Code). By definition, these accounts are really only used by middle class families. Poorer households don’t have the extra income to save (and even if they have a little, there are much higher priorities like retirement or saving for a home). Very wealthy families might use 529 plans, but it’s far more likely that they have complex trust arrangements set up for their children. [skip]

But there it is buried on page 9 of the leaked document: “The President’s plan will roll back expanded tax cuts for 529 education savings plans that were enacted in 2001 for new contributions…” Note that this is right before they also announce the repeal of Coverdell Education Savings Accounts (Coverdell ESAs), another similar move against the same middle class savings targets.

While Mr. Obama claims to be all about helping the middle class with the right side of his lips, the left is redistributing wealth away from the middle class. Classic socialism; classic Obama.

So saith President Obama and a legion of fellow travelers. And then we arrive at Vanderbilt University were law professor Carol Swain had the gall to write an editorial:

“Responding to the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris but not targeting any person or group on campus, Swain asserted that Islam ‘poses an absolute danger to us and our children’ and called for ‘serious monitoring of Islamic organizations.”

This led to a protest by the Muslim Student’s Association, led by one Farishtay Yamin:

The overall tone of the protest, though passionate, did not attack Swain personally.

Yamin herself acknowledged after the event that Swain ‘has substance and that she is an educated woman’ and has ‘a lot of qualifications to be teaching at Vanderbilt.’

But Swain’s speech must be curtailed, Yamin said: ‘What I’m really trying to show her is that she can’t continue to say these kinds of things on a campus that’s so liberal and diverse and tolerant’ or ‘say bigoted things about her own students.’

How that will happen is unclear, because Yamin said she’s not seeking official sanctions against Swain.

Yamin questioned whether Swain even believes her op-ed. ‘Her mind can’t be changed,’ she said, asked if she would meet with Swain. ‘I don’t think it’s truly hateful, I don’t know if she even has these views,’ but Swain ‘used a platform of murdering people to gain publicity.’

Yamin’s confusion continued as she said her goal was to show campus officials ‘that students don’t tolerate hate speech, even though it’s protected under academic freedom, that we don’t allow that on this campus.

‘There is no way the students here are going to allow further attacks on their own peers,’ Yamin continued. ‘And if the university respects us as human beings, it has to come out and condemn these statements and promise us that it’s not going to happen again in the future.

Well of course not! Even President Obama has proclaimed before the United Nations that the future must not belong to those that insult the prophet of Islam. Don’t these infidels know that? Don’t they know that the Constitution guarantees the right that Muslims never be exposed to any words or ideas with which they might possibly disagree? And they call this a university? Go here for a more detailed explication of Swain’s comments.

Marie Harf

Marie Harf

Marie Harf is a State Department spokesperson who, like all Obama Administration press flacks, routinely spouts false talking points and engages in stonewalling and obfuscation. Yet she sees herself as a noble public servant that doesn’t do any of those things. Consider this excerpt from a recent interview:

Public trust in government is at a dismal low. How do you go about regaining lost trust?

‘I think it’s powerful to have someone stand up at the State Department every day and tell the country what their government is doing on their behalf around the world. The only way you overcome mistrust is transparency and openness and dialogue. That’s certainly my goal as a spokesperson—not to stand up there and read talking points off a piece of paper. If I’m doing a good job, I explain to people why we care—or should care—about different parts of the world; why we’re doing what we’re doing; what we’re trying to achieve; what kind of global power the United States wants to be in the 21st century.

People deserve to know what their government does. The more we tell them and talk about it—even if they disagree—the more the trust will go up. Maybe that’s the Indiana/Ohio girl in me, but the opposite doesn’t help. Talking less doesn’t help.’

These days, news travels quickly, constantly, and globally. Does that make it more difficult to get accurate information?

‘In some ways, the instantaneous news cycle is incredibly beneficial. If there’s a story moving out there and it’s wrong, I can tweet and correct it immediately.

What I often push back on are things like Benghazi. You can disagree with what we do. You can disagree with our policy. You can disagree with a military action. You can disagree with everything the administration does. But the notion that anyone here lied, or doesn’t have the best interests of this country at heart is truly offensive to me. There’s a line that gets crossed a lot, and it’s character assassination. It’s very frustrating when, on something like Benghazi, the narrative is so divorced from the truth and so blatantly being used for political reasons. We owe the American people better than that.

Amazing, and profoundly disturbing. More profoundly disturbing is that before becoming an Obama Administration liar, she was a CIA analyst. Imagine the political, leftist spin she would have put on intelligence.

As Legal Insurrection notes,it’s difficult to tell whether this is standard Progressive lunacy or a parody. See what you think of the outrage professed by The Daily Kos’ Mark E. Andersen:

Everyone is almost certainly aware by now that Republican Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin does not have a bachelor’s degree. He left the University of Marquette, and in his words, ‘I’m someone who went to college, had the opportunity in my senior year to go and take a job full-time job (…)like a lot of folks in America, you know, your family and your job take the time away from you finishing it up.’

In that same recent interview, Walker stated, ‘I’ve got a master’s degree in taking on the big government special interests, and I think that is worth more than anything else that anybody can point to.’

Gov. Walker was unable to finish college. There are plenty of websites and blogs out there full of accusations about why he left Marquette, but we’re not exploring that today. This is about how he has the audacity to suggest that he has a master’s degree when he does not even have a bachelor’s degree.

Can Andersen really be that dense?

Upon occasion I come across degreed nitwits that love to disparage people that do not have college degrees to hang on the wall. They actually assert such people are somehow defective, lesser than themselves. Then there are those with a masters or doctorate who look down—usually quite loudly—on anyone without such degrees.

Pathetic. Having a masters or doctorate is, these days, often little more than evidence that one had the time and money to spend to obtain it. Beyond that, competence, decency and worth have to be proved—every day.

Our moronic Secretary of State, John Kerry has crashed American diplomacy many times, most recently with his sponsorship of James Taylor to sing “You’ve Got A Friend” to survivors of the Charlie Hebdo terrorist massacre, but back in April of last year, in a private meeting of like minds, he called Israel and apartheid state. The indispensable Charles Krauthammer took Kerry apart on 04-28-14. Via downtrend.com:

The ‘apartheid’ statement made by Kerry were condemned by members of his own party, including Mark Begich and Barbara Boxer.

Here’s what Krauthammer had to say about the matter: ‘Well it’s beyond nonsense. It’s pernicious and extremely harmful, What the Secretary of State of the United States has succeeded in doing, in what he thought was a private comment, is to echo, and therefore to legitimize, the worst of the libelous calumnies against the Jewish state.’

‘If there is one minority in the Middle East that enjoys the rule of law, and protection, and democracy, it is Arabs in Israel,’ he continued. ‘One out of every five Israelis is a Palestinian. Overwhelmingly, they’re Muslim. There are Arabs in the government, in the Supreme Court, in all walks of life, in the universities. There’s actually affirmative action if you’re a Palestinian in the universities. And to compare that, in any way, with the systematic discrimination against black Africans in South Africa is truly appalling and hurtful.

With people like Kerry and Obama in office, America is in grave danger.

That’s about enough of the idiocy and incompetence surrounding us. There is much good as well. Go here, and I’’ll see you next week.
